No, I mean really -- I don't expect to go to heaven whether I study it or not.

studying the Bible helps you create a relationship with God. Just because you study it doesn't mean you will go to heaven. Loving God does. So many people do not have a Bible but still love God. Sin is not a factor, other than the fact that it can keep you from keeping a relationship.

Things that happened back then, still happen now believe it or not. I found that the more i read, the more i know how to solve and deal with my own life. The bible teaches forgiveness and truth and all sorts of things that help everyone become better people. For example, If we do not forgive then we have the weight of the world on out shoulders and are starting to form a cold heart. Studying the bible is like having all the answers in life laid out in front of us. We just have to take the time and read.

I "studied" it because I took an upper division English elective class called "The English Bible As Literature," and notice it wasn't a "religious studies" class, it was an "English Language" class because that's what the Bible is...
A very nice collection of Old English Literature...(the sources of course I won't go into, but suffice it to say it is worth reading once or twice, but it's a very looooong book, and if you understand that it is a collection of dramatic myths, fables, and legends, sprinkled with pixie dust historical interpretations by mystics, then you should enjoy the grandeur and scope and wide variety of characters and gods who do atrocious things again and again and again...culminating with Jesus being nailed to a couple of 4x4's, but I'm sure you've heard that story before about a thousand times, Amen...burp...

It's a good story. it will definitely improve your language skills. it will give you an insight of morals and values back at the early bronze age. it is also fun to chase down the historical background. It's like a puzzle that has to be untangled.
