Naming a girl Louisanna?

LeeLee Sobieski had a daughter on Wednesday and just revealed her name to be.....Louisanna Ray :) Now I'm not a huge follower of her, the only movie I remember her from is Deep Impact. But I've been following her pregnancy for a while now, wondering what she would name the baby because she has such a unique name herself. And so I'm wonderfully surprised and pleased at her name choice. I don't really like Ray, but I've never thought of Louisanna as a name, but I actually really really like it!

So what are ya'lls opinions on this name and names like this, names where someone takes a beautiful word and uses it as a name. Example one of my favorite names is Antebellum, it's definitely not a name....but I think it's a beautiful word with potential to be a name. So what are your opinions on the name Louisanna and other words/names like it? What are some of your favorite names like that?

It was a very common name way back when, so it's not that crazy. It's quite traditional there's an old poet named Louisanna (although its suspected she was actually a man in disguise) but it is unique. I'm not opposed to it. I'd be more worried if she named the kid Ohio or something.

I love Louise and Louisa, but for some reason Louisanna just rubs me the wrong way. It seems like a subtle misspelling of Louisiana, like an uneducated mother might make when trying to name her daughter after the state...like Indaina or Calafornia.

Louise Anna would be lovely and intelligent-sounding, though! Or Anne Louisa...

I'm a bit confused about the pronunciation. Louisanna - It looks like Louisiana but the spelling is throwing me off.

Is it like Louisiana the state? - I think Louisiana Ray is a pretty name. It's a bit long for my taste (5 syllables!) but at least there are lots of nickname possibilities.

Or is it like Louis (loo-ee)-Anna? It's OK. Not quite as pretty sounding

Or Lois (low-ess)-anna? - I don't really like it if it is pronounced like this!

Other words that might make good celebrity names:

    Clarinet (sounds like Claire Annette)

Mandolin (sounds almost like Amanda Lynn)

Trampoline (although, tramp would NOT be a good nickname!)

Camera - I think this one has been used by a celebrity, I forget which one

Hickory (for a boy, Kory for short)

    Kodiak (Kody)

    Zodiac (Zac)

She should be prepared for hurricane Katrina jokes coming towards her baby's way. Plus that state is in shambles right now and They might reference that as well later on. naming children after states is never a good idea because people often have bad associations for a particular state, This also works with countries, the Aqua lead singer Lene Nystrom named her daughter India, and people often bash that country because of the "dell customer service" thing and the slumdog millionaire thing. It is best to name a baby after a neutral name that is pleasant.

I think it's horrible to be honest.

There's nothing wrong with Louise or Louisa or Anna, though I'm not overly keen on any of them, but Louisianna?! That's just weird, it doesn't sound nice at all. And Ray is a masculine name no matter how you spell it, at least she's not going trendy and using 'Rae' which is a horrible jumble of letters to still make a masculine name.

  • Louisanna Ray is um...well unique :)

I'm not going to bash a childs name so I'm just going to say Anna Ray would of been better.

    :)

I don't like the idea of naming a kid after some celebs kid. It's kind of tacky imo, but if you want your kid to get made fun of with a name like Louisanna go for it.

    Louise Anna/Anne would be better

    I think it's pretty.

    It sounds unique, and different.

Who cares if it has one extra A in it.

It sounds a lot better then most of the commonly used names out there.

  • I like it because it is different. I get sick of hearing the same names over and over again. I knew a girl named Dallas in the past and I thought that was adorable. Antebellum is cute. It reminds me of Lady Antebellum and I love her music too.

  • I hate it..It makes me think of Louisiana (where I'm from), and I think that's kinda stupid..that's like naming your kid Kentucky, or New York..

oh and Lilly, I did not realize we're in shambles?
