I need advice. I have had a hard life, and none of us are getting any younger.?

So you have hard a hard life and having a specific car you like is going to make your hard life better? You must actually believe those car company tv ads. Sounds more like mid-life crisis - wanting to feel young again.

There is nothing wrong with nice things if you can afford them, but what has me baffled is that you equate this in some way to how you feel about life. I guarantee that even seated in a new VW convertible you will be exactly the same person you were before.

Your son is both right and wrong - convertibles used to be much more dangerous then normal sedans before the mid 80's now only moderately more so. About 1% of all deaths for 3.8% of all new cars - although when you consider than many are parked all winter, this is not as reassuring as it sounds.

So in short do as you wish, but do it for the right reasons

who cares what others think , if i were to see you driving a white volkswagen convertible with the top down it be just another person on the street driving a car the own .. so to me if you like it go for it !

Dear Friend, if that is what you want to drive like, then drive as you want. It is good to fulfill some of the desires of life. It is safe or unsafe depends on how fast you are driving, etc.

If you drive safe, then the top open is safe. If you drive unsafe, Platinum top wont be even safe.

Other than wanting a white volkswagen convertible, do you have any other reason? If the reason is a 'nice to have' instead of 'must have' then you don't need it!

Have you ever driven one? Maybe you could rent or lease one for a while to see if it meets all your driving needs and not just the aesthetic one. On a lighter note, I bet if you do get one, all those people who said you're nuts would just be chomping at the bit to be asked if they wanted a ride in it.

Like you said you aren't getting any younger. You don't have to listen to those people but honestly if you did get a VW 'who gon check you boo?' Meaning, are they going to physically pull you out of the car and return it to the store!? NO! are they going to tell you that you nuts, probably because they're haters but don't let their hating selves keep you from doing you.

I wouldn't think a thing about it. You'd be just another person in another white convertible. And no, I wouldn't think you were crazy.

I think convertibles are hot, so i would look twice if i seen ya passing by. We all have our dreams in this world and this one is yours so do what you got to do to make this happen for yourself.

Like you said that you have had a hard life, then you should do whatever make you happy. You done your job, raise the children. Now it is your time to enjoy what you like. So be it. life is to short to make every one happy. So why not yours?
