Why didn't Republicans ever pass Health care reform when they were in Power?

Do rich Gop conservatives only care about the rich because when Bush and Reagan were in power they never tried to pass health care reform.

If Reagan or Bush would have passed health care reform democrats would not have to do it now.But Regan and Bush never even tried to pass health care reform because republicans don't care about the poor.

Just for the record im a independent moderate and i don't agree with most of Obama's views but a lease he's trying to pass health care reform that's something that George Bush never did.

Do you conservatives really think that health care should stay the way it is America pays more for health care than any country in World.

The wealthy elitist only care about their monies and their investments.Politics is a mechanism of the elite to maintain their superabundant market share. The political parties do not really represent the voting public, and essentially there is no real choice in political candidates. Examine the history of the Rockerfellers as well as Buffet and Gates. Sounds spectacular at first blush that their monies are used for humanitarian means. Think about the foundations that are formed to prevent their monies from taxation that could be used for issues in the general population. The political parties are formed with 'like" thinkers so that the "Elite player can to hold on to their wealth and power to generate more wealth and power in their best interest and not that of the taxpaying citizens and those in need of social welfare. Interesting that the elites use monies in developing nations as opposed to programs in the US. Why?? because they want huge monetary gains for $$$ rendered.

Maybe because they didn't try to overstep the boundaries of the Constitution? There is nothing in the Constitution about redistribution of wealth, nor about Health Care being a right to be provided by the taxpayers.

Americans might pay more out of pocket for health care than any other country, but just wait until the real bill comes for all the free / universal health care hits us ... how does 35% - 50% federal tax sound to you? It's coming.. they have to pay for all those free "entitlements" somehow, and they can't just keep printing money with nothing to back it, like President Obama had them do this past year. Just imagine - in ONE year, he more than quadrupled the debt that you "Bush-bashers" were whining about, and you aren't saying ONE SINGLE THING about it now.

It's ok, though ... I've read some of the proposed health care bill ... rationing, bureaucrats getting to decide what kind of care you can have, officials being able to deny you ANY care, you being fined (or jailed) if you don't have the type care the administration prescribes, all doctors being paid the same wage .... you REALLY should give it a read... it's either really entertaining or really scary - depends on if it gets passed.

Yeah - hope you can believe in ... sheesh!

I am not very politically minded but I have observed the basic principles of politicians. When a democrat is in office, they seem to try to make things better by working to balance the national budget & eliminate the national debt - which Clinton did, and handed a surplus over to the next republican president, who gave it away within the first few months of his presidency. In my eyes, the republicans are out for lining the pockets of big businesses and spending like we have all the money in the world, while the democrats try to fix the problems generated by republican presidents. Current president excepted.

Because it was not a priority for them. The preamble to the Constitution states that one of the reasons they established constitutional government was to promote the general welfare and to secure the blessings of liberty to the people of our country, present and future. Can we simply say that there are broadly different interpretations of this mandate?

It amazes me the lack of civility and the name-calling that exists on this issue. Just look at some of the answers given here.

To those that think that polls should drive the decisions made by members of Congress, let me remind you that we are a republic. The people do NOT make the decisions; they elect the people who make the decisions. This issue is far too complicated to be resolved by histrionics.

No one gets refused health care as it is. At certain private hospitals yes, but county hospitals cannot refuse anyone. Most of these patients never pay their bills anyway and who picks up the tab? Us taxpayers of course. From what I understand taxpayers will pay more for those same people who already are receiving health care with no insurance to have insurance. All the health care system needs is a little tweaking here and there, not an overhaul.

as quickly as they comprehend that the Republicans, such as you above, lied approximately each little thing, then they are going to win returned. Are you asserting the U. S. is incapable of having public scientific well-being insurance like another developed united states on the earth? infrequently. not in basic terms will the 50,000 people who might die each and each 365 days simply by fact they don't have scientific well-being insurance like it, yet others besides while they are able to declare see you later to extreme rates and grasping termination motives. the time-honored public likes national well-being care, it in basic terms heard the lies approximately Obama's plan and grew to grow to be against it. you ought to evaluate this a victory, and dance around the graves of the 50,000 who will die without insurnace this 365 days, and the masses whose insurance claims and rules would be denied.

The Democrats ruled washington for over 40 years. Why didn't they?

The reason we pay more for health care is because the hospitals, doctors, nurses, drug companies, medical equipment companies, utility companies, etc. all make more than in other countries. They all make more because you and I make more. Our standard of living is higher and just about everything costs more.

It is a LIE that the reason our health care is high is because of insurance companies. Almost half of our insurance is via self-insured companies and non-profit companies. Their cost are just slightly less than for-profit companies.

It is also a LIE that we have 45,000,000 poor down trodden uninsured. I believe a large majority of these are people that choose to not purchase it, and people that are illegal aliens. In my own family we have people that choose to have a fancy car or large home over having health insurance. Why? Because they know they have health care if they really need it anyway, because our laws say they can't be refused.

The biggest error in your statements is that Americans pay more for health care than people in any other country in the world. In countries that have socialized medicine, health care is paid for through taxes.Do you have any idea of the tax rates in our neighbor to the north?Free health care is not free, contrary to popular opinion.Somebody is paying for it.

Health care is no different than any other industry.Would you also be in favor of the government intruding into your industry and telling you just exactly how much you might charge for your products, the materials you will use,how they will be paid for and who will buy them?

Even the Democrats, who are traditionally in favor of more government intervention into your daily life, seem to have trouble with the current proposals. There have been so many different amendments to the "reform"bill, that I doubt anyone really knows what is in it.Also don't forget that a few Senators who were against the original health care bill voted in favor of it once they were given a few hundred million dollars for their states(Does the Senator from Louisiana ring a bell?)If it were such a good idea, then why the need to bribe some of their own party members to go along?

++++And now in exchange for some partial change in abortion funding and tens of millions to his home state of Nebraska,Ben Nelson agrees to vote yes.Are there any Democrats that aren't whores? And will this give the control of Congress back to the Republicans in the next elections?++++

    I'll tell you why Cherry.

    1) Unlike Socialist Democrats, Republicans are not trying to to run every ones life.

Mandating that everyone must buy Health Care and not letting citizens choose for themselves if that is what they want to spend their money on. Good bye Liberty, hello Tyranny.

Dictating when and what kind of medical service that you are permitted to have. RATIONING.

Dictating to Doctors what they can and can't practice, where they are needed, and what they can charge for the services that they provide.

How long before they dictate how you conduct your business?

Obama is not pushing Health Care for humanitarian reasons, he could not care any less.

Pure and simple the #1 motive of Obama's Heath Care agenda is extort more money from the American tax payer, or providing class, to redistribute, as corrupt politicians see fit, to create further class warfare and animosity and cause unrest and a need for more governmental intervention.

The long time Democrat guise of sympathy and caring for the poor is pure BULL SHEET.

Democrats have no intentions of eliminating poverty because without poverty they would be out of a job.

On the contrary, Democrats are doing all that they can to increase the the # of people who need governmental assistance.

They preach, endorse and subsidize personally destructive behavior that have cost the Provider Class Trillions upon Trillions of dollars since LBJ's Great Society of the mid 1960s.

As far as good intentions and government programs go.

Ask and answer these questions your self and maybe you will begin to figure out how they, the crooks in government operate.

Social Security is funded by whom and for what purpose?

Who perverted it causing it to go broke?

Medicare is funded by whom and for what purpose?

Who perverted it causing it to go broke?

Medicaid is funded by whom and for what purpose?

Who perverted it causing it to go broke?

And if you believe that government can efficiently oversee the heath care of every person inside the USA, I have a bridge that you might be interested in buying.

Fact: 63 % of Americans view themselves as Conservative.

We are not hardly rich, just pissed off at this arrogant administration and the people who support governmental intrusion into every aspect of your life.

Fact the majority of Americans oppose Government involvement in private sector areas such as the relationship of a patient and a doctor.

I think we have the greatest health care in the world and the most advanced. I believe the cost of health care could be greatly reduced if doctors where not compelled to conduct every test under the sun to protect themselves from the lawyers who are more then happy to sue at the drop of a hat for any reason.

I think the lack of Tort reform is the #1 reason the cost of heath care has gone sky high over the years.

Why is it out of 2000 pages of an incomprehensible health care bill this is not one mention of Tort Reform?

Could if be that that a great many of our politician's and law makers, Obama included, are lawyers?

We are right, Obama supporters are wrong.

    End of story.
