Will Liberals petition the Joint Chiefs of Staff not to attack Iran (like they did Bush) if Obama orders it?

As long as it is Barack Obama who is giving the order, then as far as the Radical Leftists are concerned it is all permissible and perfectly legal.

To the Radical Leftist way of thinking such an order is only illegal and not permissible if the order is not given by a Radical Leftist.

If the order is given by a Radical Leftist, that makes the order OK, as far as the Radical Leftists are concerned.

I would not support a war with Iran even if there was proof, though if Israel attacks, the US should support them (I just hope they do not). First of all, attacking Iran is a whole different story than Iraq. The country would be much harder to control and and the US should not be in the business of regime change anyway--if Iraq and Afghanistan have taught us anything, it should have been that. Second, intel from inside Iran has the regime near collapse anyway; any attack would just shore it up. Third, Iran may talk about nuking Israel, but I doubt even this regime is that stupid. Israel alone has enough nuclear capacity to turn Iran into radioactive glass, never mind what the US could throw at it.

Liberals have nothing to do with foreign policy. Liberals are for economic opportunity for the disadvantaged in this country and health care for the poor and children.

If you are against the war then you are pacifist and has nothing to do with liberal or not liberal.

On the other hand if Obama have said what you claim he had said this does not mean he is talking about a military action.

Bush started the war on Iraq based on fabricated Intelligent information.

Iran said they are not interested in developing nuclear weapons what is the proof that they are developing one?

The first question is easy:

Liberals are liars and hypocrites, they are not against war like they claim and they could careless who dies in them. Liberals were simply against Bush, war was a tool to oppose Bush.

The second question is more complicated, but I will try to keep it simple:

The Joint Chiefs would *not* disobey such an order.

1. There are extreme orders the Joint Chiefs would disobey, like if the President ordered the military to usurp Congress or the irrational of use nuclear weapons.

2. The Military has never disobeyed the President when it comes to the use of force, it has always been part of our nation that the military acts on civilian orders and to break that would cause a crisis. The reason would have to grave, like the ones I mentioned above.

3. The issue of when the President can authorize military without Congress declaring war has never been answered by the US Supreme Court. Neither the President or Congress has pushed the issue, so they settle on the Wars Powers Act.

Our opinion on what the Constiution says about the President's power to go to war, says nothing. This is a battle the three branches of government must settle, until then the military will continue to obey the President.

What the military would do in a worst case scenario is privately appeal to VP/Cabinte (if he was insane) or Congress to stop it.

No way they would. They would only listen to Obama, who probably would have other reasons for not attacking Iran (or not having the USA doing the attack, but rather having someone doing it by proxy).

As for attacking Iran directly with us, the fear is that it could set off a chain reaction that leads to a third World War in the area of the world that has historically been the most unstable.

Great question! No, it will never happen. IF Obama say go, very, very few of them will say anything at all. He is the chosen one!

Question is, will conservatives stop slamming Obama, especially when he is doing things that conservatives want him to do, like invade Iran? Or will conservatives still attack Obama if he does this?
