Are you happy with your life?

I know this question might seem odd but after all we are in the philosophy section.

Many philosophers have debated on what is true happiness and does it even exist.

I want to know honestly how many of you are 100% happy with your life? You won't change anything about it, you feel fortunate, do not have any regrets, and continue looking forward?

Many people say "I'm happy but things could be better" or "I'm content" which is not really being happy so I want to know has happiness reached you?

"Call no man happy until he is dead," said a Greek sage. The saying is not as pessimistic as it may sound. It does not mean, "non-existence is preferable to any kind of life." It means, rather, "happiness is a quality not of any single moment, but of the whole of a life, and we can judge of a whole only after the trajectory is complete."

My own best guess at present is that when my whole arc is complete, you will be able to deem it a happy life. In the meantime, it has its share of pleasures and satisfactions.

I think that COMPLETE happiness doesn't exist, but happiness in large amounts certainly does. There's always gonna be one little thing, at least, that we would do differently or change, but I'm extremely happy just for the fact that I have a house to live in and a bed to sleep on every night. I feel SO fortunate and I know I've been blessed just to be alive in the first place. I'm very, very happy, potentially because I adopted that mindset rather than the "I want everything the world has to offer - money, beautiful people, etc." type of view on life. Happiness may just be a product of our expectations...

Of course, the not-so-cool part comes in with my own shortcomings, and the fact that I wish I had accomplished more by now. Not that I'm unaccomplished, but I have high expectations for myself, you know.. Other than that, I think my attitude is pretty positive. I'm always looking forward, and I'm happy with wherever I am in life.

"The happiest man on earth can look in the mirror and see only himself exactly as he is." - HP and the Philosophers Stone, Dumbledore and Harry in front of the Mirror of E. (quote is more or less correct)

To be happy simply means you have all that you desire, if you do not desire something that you do not have, then you do not feel the lack of that which you do not desire, thus, is happiness. But can humans truly accomplish that perfectly? I don't know, but there are many who are close enough, and can be happy without necessarily having every little thing that they desire.

I think we can only be happy inso far as we do not recall that which we want, moments of bliss that makes us forget what we do not have or the troubles, and simply be happy with the things we currently hold dear, which many of us forget we have until it's gone.

So with this in mind, yes, sometimes I am truly happy, while other moments simply content or somewhere bellow closer to the negative feelings, but overall, I'm fine with what is the 'now' as long as I know I have the power to change my future to that which will make me happy, no matter the struggle.

I've never been 100% happy. I have been content, though. Lately, I've been more sad than happy, but things could be worse so I do feel fortunate for all the good that is in my life. I have many regrets, and although it is difficult to look forward, that is the only thing I can do right now.

I am happy because I know that I really am serving God. There can be no greater happiness than that. However, that does not mean I'm smiling all the time, far from it, it's not an easy job. To really do that is one of the hardest tasks you could imagine in the world the way it is but there is no other way I would have it be because that's the way God has it be even with the people who bar your answers on this thing. You do gain a great sense of humour from it.

No, I am not 100 percent happy with my life, but I'm making an effort in changing that by getting an education. I just finished my Associates in August and now I'm working on the BA so I can get a better paying job.

hmm how can i be happy if i don't know what unhappy is. (like when all are happy then you cannot call that happy anymore).

I cannot be happy or unhappy all the time either.

There is no such thing in my opinion as 100% happy or unhappy. It is like when you know or don't know, good or bad, in light or darkness.

There is no between. Either you are happy or not :)

it comes to things such as are you happy being loved ? yes! .. not loved? No ..

So you cannot be 100% happy or 100% unhappy, i mean generalizing...

Well I'm happy that i know that i'm happy and grateful, when i have gratitude i am happy. And i'll be happy when people around me are happy ;)

I don't see how a slight imperfection automatically means someone isn't happy. You can't be happy 24/7; it's the moments in which you are happy that count, not the little things that trouble you at other times. So, yes, I am happy, just not your apparent definition of happy.

I am glad I tried my best in anything, I lost my brother, dad, cousin, grandma within space of 2 years, I moved on , I failed many times and I bring myself up again and again and I understand bad times will happened again , and I guess I am happy knowing that life is very unpredictable and prepares to tackle it appropriately

But I dont think anyone has found the Alchemy of Happiness, I got the book tho :P

complete happiness does exist. it's in different parts; are you completely happy with the minor things in your life, are you completely happy with the major things in life. i think that true happiness is with the major things in life, like a good relationship or a nice house, a nice car, a family, etc.

right now i'm mostly happy with some things in my life but they could use improvement.
