How close is Canada and the US?
It just seems as though you can't refer to Canada outside of the United States and in the US when they refer to "nationwide" they are also including parts (if not all) of Canada. Unfortunately Canada is too small to really affect the US but still I mean even the day to day stuff the two countries seem joined at the hip....go figure Wendy's is Canadian....
CNN sometimes quote studies as nationwide when it some of the data includes Canadian results.....
I'm well of aware of the geographical proximity I'm referring to the relationship between the two nations

Canada's population is about 10% of the USA's. If you asked a US business if it would like to have 10% more potential customers they'd probably say "Hell, yes", so "too small" might not describe it accurately.
In some states the Canadian economy is even more important for imports and exports.
Something else: the public broadcating TV station in Buffalo has a logo with the Canadian and American flags combined, and they pitch their campaigns for donations to both sides of the border. Why? The population and wealth in Southern Ontario is substantially more than the Buffalo area, and the station needs Canadian sponsors to continue.
On the other hand, if you live in Texas you probably know nothing of Canada.
So to answer your question, in certain selected areas, the countries are very close. In other areas, particularly certain values and beliefs, they're on different planets

The Second World War. Hasn't anyone ever heard of war plan red? "War plan red" was developed in the 30's as the American plan to invade Canada, it was big in the media for a week until... Defense scheme no. 1 was Canada's plan to invade America developed in 1921. Hmmmmmm Both of these plans were scrapped close or after world war 2.

The USA is Canada's largest trading partner. They share the longest undefended border in the world. During the 9/11 attacks, thousands of American citizens were given shelter in Canada when the US airports were shut down. The robotic arm on the US space shuttle is Canadian built. Over 1.5 million people in California are Canadian by birth. 20% of the electrical energy in the Pacific northwest is generated in Canada. Canada has the largest reserves of oil used in the USA (more than OPEC). How's that for starters?

SMALL? Small in comparison in population maybe. Have a look at a realistic map. Canada is NOT SMALL. I'm not sure where you are coming from with your "nationwide" comment. Contests by American companies are almost always only for Americans and it seems like you need our gas and will soon need our water. Usually the U.S. and Canada get along like good neighbours should.
Yes we are close. Detroit is NORTH of Windsor Ontario.
Wendy's was founded in Ohio and their head office is still in Ohio after merging with Arby's.

I'm not really sure what you mean here...I mean the borders of the two countries touch each other, so yes, they are close in proximity. But I don't think anyone includes Canada when they say nationwide, because it is a completely separate country.

Umm...a NATION refers to one country not a slab of land. When they say nationwide they are talking about only the U.S. And what do you mean we are to small to really affect you? Our country is bigger! Plus the U.S. has invaded Canada twice and we have won both times (Part of the War of 1812 and they also invaded Canada in the 1700's)...and to do with the day to day stuff, a lot of places in Europe, Australia, and South America have day to day lives very similar to ours

Canada is still independent of the US, but when two large countries are conjoined, there has to be a certain degree of coordination and cooperation.
Wendy's is Canadian, and so is Tim Horton's and they're both entering the US market.

We actually affect the US quite a bit. Its just unfortunate that US citizens are too self centred and ignorant to know anything about their neighbours to the north and how much influence we have on them.

i dont know what your asking. canada is right beside the usa. and canada is bigger then the usa too. and trust me, it does affect the US, with exporting and importing
