Help! Accidental bleaching (dark clothes)!?

I accidentally spilled bleach on my boyfriend's clothes... I didn't realize until after I was folding them. They are a pair of black sweatpants (his fave's) and a black sharpie is too dark- he'll notice it. What else can I do (before he gets home and finds out!!!)

The only thing you can do is dye them. Look on the label to see what the fabric is. If it's 100% cotton, you're laughing. Go to the drug store and buy a package of Rit dye in black.

Get a large, stainless steel pot. Fill it with hot tap water and put it on the stove with the stove on high until the water steams a bit.

Stir in the dye crystals and stir with a stainless steel spoon to dissolve.

Make sure the pants are thoroughly wet and put them in the pot loosely. There should be enough room so they float around a bit and are not squished in.

Keep them in there for 30 minutes stirring almost constantly.

Take them out, rinse a few times in cold water and put in dryer.

    Voila!

Keep in mind this will only work if you're not worried about them shrinking. If they've been in the dryer before, no problem.

Failing that, just tell him it was an accident.. if he gets mad, he's got a problem and tell him all the trouble you went through to make it better..

I wash my own clothes and sometimes my family's as well. Here are the steps I use. First, just get all your clothes into a laundry basket, separating special/delicate/weird colored pieces as you go. If you don't know if something has to be washed or handwashed separately, read the labels on the clothing. Put all the ones that can't be washed with the rest aside to do a separate load later. (Don't forget not to wash reds with whites.) Second, make sure all the clothes are washer and dryer ready. For example, if a sweatshirt has strings from the hood, tie them together so the string doesn't go out one end and get lost. Third, put the clothes in the washer. Set it to the type you want. Just do normal everything because you don't have special pieces in there anymore. Fourth, take them out of the washer when they're done and put them in the dryer (or hang them up on a line). Hang them up if you don't want them to shrink. Fifth, when the normal load is drying, do your special load that you saved until now. Sixth, fold everything. Seventh, put everything away in drawers or hang up. Good luck with this!

Bleach is permanent - you will have to confess and maybe offer to buy him some more??
