Can an entire litter of puppies be all female?

The thing is my Cairn terrier/poodle(I know weird mix) had puppies last Sunday and she seems to have all girls, although we haven't really had a chance to look at them because she is so overprotective. I just wanted to know if it was possible

while not likely.. its not impossible either. I have heard of entire litters being either male or female.

Please get her spayed once the pups are weaned, and please also make sure the pups are sold on spay/neuter contracts!

    ADDED

Sex is determined by the father of the puppies

All females carry XX genes.. so mom automatically gives the pups the X gene

Males carry XY.. so depending on what gene the father throws, will depend on what sex the puppy is.. if he throws the X gene, the pup will be female, if he throws the Y gene, the pup will be male.

I was once told that in some males (this includes humans as well) one sex gene may be "stronger" than the other (the strongest sperms make it to the egg first!), which is why some males seem to produce more of one sex or another.. I dont know how true that is tho- it may just be a theory that someone came up with. I still think its more a matter of chance.

    Of course it is.

Just because in kiddies' books they make it all fair, 'Jill the Jack Russel having two males and two females', doesn't mean it's true.

Just like in human births, a dog can have all males in a litter (or in a life time) or all females.

Yes it is very likely. The sex is not determined by how many puppies are conceived but by the genetic make up of the embryos.

Overprotective means she does not have a temperment that should have been bred, aside from the fact you are breeding mixes.

    Yes, it is possible.

Yes, although unlikely, it can and does happen. My youngest dog is from a litter of all females.
