What will happen when the caged one is set free?

Update:

Dr House: It's not about Puss! He's the most unfettered contact I have!

Don: Thank you.

Update 2:

Parrrrrris the drunk puss: "it will drag along the floor" indeed! You're playing with that magnifier again aren't you?

.... Ooooh, I can always count on *you* to bring a little class to the Philosophy section!

Update 3:

Drew ... Hey, a little subtlety never goes amiss, but thank you!

P'quaint!: A very thoughtful answer, thank you! And thank you for delineating the important variables, I do appreciate that.

Flutterbypurr: I love your raw honesty, thank you so so much. And I am grateful for the warning about the seductive power of the (deadly) sun, especially to one who is unaccustomed to flying freely.

My guess is that it would totally depend on how long he/she/it had been in the cage!

Conditioning plays a major role, as does the will power, intuition and adaptability!

If he is too used to be in a cage and unaccustomed to fly, he will come back to the cage as he will not feel safe after becoming free and will gladly think that being in a cage is his destiny.

If he was caged for few days and then set free he will look for his family and friends as the new found freedom will fill a new vigour and strength in him.

read the Allegory of The Cave by Plato.

What my opinion is the one would have never learned anything. He'd come out of the cage and wouldn't understand a thing. He'd probably try to crawl around somehow but a car or bird would scare him and he'd get back into the cage because it's familiar to him. If he wasn't allowed to get back in, he's probably try to find somewhere else to hide.

They will have to fly through a storm of anti-depressants before they find they fly too close to the sun and fall back into a cage.

I'm thinking, things are gonna get a little wild until the caged one is used to the new found freedom.

The caged one, having never tasted freedom, may linger close to the cage for a long time, unaware that it even has freedom.
