My favorite part about Christmas is Christmas morning watching my kids opening up their gifts and then I want it to end and the winter to end along with it. I can't wait for the warmer weather like the spring and the summer.

I do, but it's somewhat wounded because I lost my job and my last two payments were withheld from me, so that instead of having little money, for a few weeks I had no money. I had to borrow from my brother more than once. I bought a few small gifts in November, but couldn't get more in the following weeks.

My brother's girlfriend gave me $25 for my birthday yesterday. I had to spend a good chunk of it on intimate needs (think Depends), but I also bought some inexpensive Christmas napkins. I had gone to see a Christmas play at my nephew's old school, an adaptation of A Charlie Brown Christmas by way of The Twilight Zone. On the way home I sang a few carols while waiting for the bus or walking down the street.

Right now I'm sitting in the living room with my sister's children, and we're watching Oprah interview Obama, and playing with cell phones or Ipods or digital cameras, and they're talking about all sorts of things. Christmas Eve I plan to go to a service at my church.

One thing I did when I had some money was to prepare some shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, back in November. Giving to the needy is a great way to boost up your Christmas spirit. It's in keeping with the spirit of the One whose birth we celebrate.

    Merry Christmas!

People lost the meaning of Christmas. All they wont is material things, they could care less about being with the people who love them and care more about what the people got them/ It's like damn, some people aint even got that. I always hated Christmas for the exact same reason. Plus people stress over spending so much money in the end, it aint even worth it. Sorry if it's too much, but it's how it is. What happened to back in the day when Christmas actually had a meaning.

I feel the same as you this year too. I have a few reasons though:

    1-the economy

2-i have been sick this WHOLE year

3-about a week ago, someone broke into my boyfriends house (which is on the market and obviuosly very difficult to sell in this market), and stole teh beautiful stained glass window-leaving a gaping hole in the house (we live in PA btw, which means its COLD and snowing often). We were lucky someone saw the "hole" and called teh reality office about it before the snow we just had....it just totally took me out of the spirit of the seaon. what a rotten thing to do to someone right now....AND his insurance requires a $500 deductable, so WE really are hurting from this! not to mention that we will have to replace it with plain glass which lowers teh value of the house itself....It tarnishes the season, and it tarnishes my memories of teh place i feel in love with my BF...I LOVED that window and he even admits he did too....

4-my parents are "seperated" and seeing other people now, so it isnt like we can even have a family get-together....

although, it does seem like something's "off" about christmass this year beyond those things.....Even the x-mass music i have heard this year has been not quite as lively....

everyone is allways rushing around with getting 'things" for other people....half of which the people probably wont like or need. This year i am donating to charities in honor od my friends, family, and docors (and their staffs). it doesnt require shopping, which is good since i'm too sick to have the energy for that anyway.

Christmas is so full of commercialism and obligations its overwhelming. AND it does get earlier every year, teh stores here had christmas decorations up before halloween this year! THAT irratates me.

so i feel your "pain" i guess is teh best word....

I am not in the Christmas spirit at all. I am just waiting for it to come and leave. I really us to love Christmas but the meaning is gone. It is now about Santa, that really makes me want to kick myself in the stomach. Christmas is about CHRIST. The word is in it ,are people blind?

Oh come on, get into it, yes of course at times its a pain but try to remember good Christmas' you've had in the past and if you can't get your spirit back then try to help any children you know, if not your own kids then maybe nieces or nephews that still enjoy it as it will make you happy to see them all excited.

I definitely have the true Christmas spirit. Christmas is about Jesus Christ coming to earth, about hope, about Emanuel, God with Us.

I would encourage you to go look at Christmas lights, listen to some Christmas music, or go to a Christmas church service. It's hard to have the Christmas Spirit if you don't have the message of Christmas fresh in your mind =]

    God Bless and Merry Christmas.

I do not this year, because i will be far from home. But for me its not about santa or the birth of jesus or the winter solstice. what its about is spending time with family, we get together every year and have a big ham dinner and play balderdash and christmas trivial pursuit.
