How do you interpret Matthew 19:26?

And looking at them Jesus said to them, "With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

He was telling them that without leaving worldly things behind, you cannot enter the Kingdom of God. You have to leave your worldly baggage like riches behind you. Only God could give you the desire and the ability to leave the material things of this world behind so you can enter heaven, the next world. You have to leave behind the material/flesh to make way for the spiritual. The two cannot coexist.

The interpretation that seems to make sense is this. The "Eye of the Needle" was a narrow gateway into Jerusalem. Since camels were heavily loaded with goods and riders, they would need to be un-loaded in order to pass through the gate and enter Jerusalem. Therefore, the analogy is that a rich man would have to similarly unload his material possessions/ambitions in order to enter "the gates" of heaven.

21Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

22When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

23Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

25When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, "Who then can be saved?"

26Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

Ok I am taking just this passage, as it stands alone.

First of all, it works just fine this way.

Second of all, there is a useful meaning to this even if you're an atheist.

Let me postulate that if God is energy, particularly the total energy that all matter is made from, and all of life on this planet is connected through it, well God must be the driving force behind the "movement" of life on Earth. A scientist might call this nature, or psychology, or sociology...

Well if we are all under the influence, or even control of this basic law of physics or nature,

well then free will is an illusion, and the only way to "change" your path in life is through God, or the whole, and somehow affecting the influencing factor in your life.

Or if we dig a little deeper into that psychological association, well maybe God is a part of our consciousness. Maybe we are all representing God and it's general nature.

Let's just say our subconscious mind is directly tied to this influence. Our Feelings which tend to stem from the unconscious, tend to influence and even control our conscious existence.

So maybe talking to God is more like talking to your mind and influencing yourself based on what you believe about God.

and based on my first hand experience of this being true. I would agree that this is how all things are possible. I just need more focus and discipline to overcome myself completely and achieve a higher level of awareness...

The Diciples represented mankind (all 12 characteristics) speaking to Spritual-Truth (Christ).

"People" represent ignorance of spirit having no knoweledge of Truth (Christ). Not knowing Christ is to have no awarness of spritual truths outside of the physical body.

"With god" all things are possible is Christ teaching the truth about "God", the concept.

The "Camel entering a needle" is the metaphor for impossible.

Those knowing truth are those whom can enter into Gods Kingdom first and foremost; Understand that "in My Fathers house there are many mansions" is the metaphor for many other places to dwell besides the KINGDOM of God.

Many have the doctrines engrained that when they "die" they go to one of two places. This is not reality but narrow doctrines of ignorance. Those whom dwell in spritual realms are not suddenly aware of the higher realms either as learning still takes place there. The spritualy lazy will have no rest as they may expect in "salvation"...

Between Gods residence and Earth are numerous spritual relams all suited for the development of the individuals spritual evolution; reincarnation is a natural flow of spritual tide that comes and goes. Free will dictates that one may reincarnate at will with few exceptions.

Jesus’ message is clear—it is impossible for anyone to be saved by their own merits.

Since wealth was seen as proof of God’s approval, it was commonly taught by the rabbis that rich people were blessed by God and were, therefore, the most likely candidates for heaven.

Jesus destroyed that notion, and along with it, the idea that anyone can earn eternal life.

The disciples had the appropriate response to this startling statement. They were utterly amazed and asked “who then can be saved?”

If the wealthy among them, which included the super-spiritual Pharisees and scribes, were unworthy of heaven, what hope was there for a poor man?

Jesus’ answer is the basis of the gospel: "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God" (Matthew 10:27).

Men are saved through God’s gifts of grace, mercy, and faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Nothing we do earns salvation for us.

It is the poor in spirit who inherit the kingdom of God (Matthew 5:3), those who recognize their spiritual poverty and their utter inability to do anything to justify themselves to a holy God.

Why was the rich man condemned to hell, what did he do wrong?

Jesus told you to give to everyone who asks, did the rich man give to Lazarus?

If you are of God the Father or hear (read) the words spoken by Jesus you would know what it means, to say you do not know, just means that you are denying Jesus. You know it is just that you don't want to do it.

HE had been questioned about rich ppl going to Heaven. So this was in response to that, But, it is NOT just referring to rich ppl getting into Heaven, tho this did answer that question.

This scripture addresses everything God YHWH calls us to do.

WE cant do anything on our own, but WIth Him, all things are possible.

And, this is not just about getting into Heaven , rich or poor.

It is one of my favorite verses, Its on my personal e mails as a signature.

Because it says so much, that there is nothing impossible for God, and we that are in Christ, nothing is impossible for us either.

WE can do all HE calls us to do for Him.

    Isnt that awesome?

    WE serve a mighty God.

The context is about rich people getting into heaven. The reason it is only possible with God is because many rich will trust riches over God, but God has the power and ability to reach some. God can bless someone to be rich like Abraham, and make it to heaven, because they trusted God with their riches.

There's also the verse from Paul I think ... "and such were you...but you have been washed in the blood of Christ"... or something like that. God changes people.

In this context, He was talking about gaining access to heaven.

It can only be done through Christ (God) alone
