Red painful thing under my tongue, Pictures included. What the heck is this?

I only have one on the right side under my tongue. It is red and is sticking out. Sometimes it hurts, sometimes it doesn't.

    I had that one time, I hate it! Maybe you bit your time or you burned your tongue by eating/ drinking something hot. Try to ignore it. Don't try to touch it with the roof of your mouth or with your teeth, it makes it even worse. Also, don't pull on it with your fingers, that too makes it worse. The only thing you can do is wait for about 2 days until it's gone.

    They are just like a little skin tag. A type of papillae related to the same kind of structure we call taste buds which are also papillae. These are sublingual papillae. It isn't uncommon for them to get sore if they are as large as what you have shown. You can get them pared down by a Dr. or a dentist will do it. Then they will not get irritated so often by getting caught in teeth , knocked by the toothbrush and so on.

    Just as an addition, these papillae are part of a structure called the plica fimbriata. If you look up that term on google or some search engine you will learn more about it and the protuberances that are on it. It is normal, yours are just larger than average and therefore prone to irritation.
