I've had problems with the top right icons on the mac and with the dashboard.?

When i put my mouse over the time, charge status, internet, sound, or anything else, i get the spinning wheel of colors. The time, charge, and other things aren't updating so they must be frozen. Also, i can edit the widgets on my dashboard but as soon as I place them they freeze.

Does anybody know what could be wrong, i would appreciate any help.

    Hello maples,

I’m sorry that you’re having problems with your Macintosh. That is really strange, and you may need to take your Mac into the shop and have them look at this.

There are a couple of suggestions that I’d like to try before you do though.

The first thing that you can do is check how much RAM you’ve got. Go up to the Apple menu (on the left) and down to the About This Mac menu command. You should get a dialog box that tells you what version of Mac OS X you have. It should also tell you how much RAM you have in your Macintosh. You may have very little RAM to be able to run your Mac OS, along with all of those applications you’ve got running simultaneously. You may need to invest in getting more RAM to get your Mac up to speed.

The other thing that you can do is to go into your Utilities folder and launch the Disk Utility application and click on the First Aid tab. Now click on the main hard drive (Macintosh HD?) inside the side-bar to the left. Now you click on the Repair Disk Permissions button. This process will take awhile.

Repairing Disk Permissions is a Unix maintenance thing that you should get into the habit of doing every month or so. It’s unbelievable how much this improves how your Macintosh works. Give it a try.

    Best of luck, maples.
