How long will it take me to learn how to sing ?
Bear with me, this is sort of long (=...
I am really dying to learn how to sing, I was wondering if it was too late because I'm 15. I love to sing but my voice is kind of average, so how many lessons a month will it take to notice any real improvement ? I can't really afford too many questions since im paying for it myself and my parents won't support me in anything to do with music (Rather have me concentrate on school work..WHICH I STILL AM :D)
Could you please tell me anything else I might like to know
And just ask if you need more information from me :D
Thankyou !

Drofbagin - Unfortunately I don't think I can convince my parents :(
Masala Tea - Im interested in learning contemporary

Well honestly there is not set amount of time. It depends on the person. Lessons just help you get your singing muscle in shape. I don't think it is too late for any one. Unless you are tone deaf... that might be a little hard. Some people absolutely cannot hear the right key to sing. Good luck though. Lessons are great... but maybe 2 a month because they send you home with home work to do on your voice. To keep your voice in good shape you need to practice or sing atleast an hour a day but be carefull not to strain it.

Remember to breath from your diaphragm. Work on posture, and open your mouth wide. Speak each word clearly (smiling helps. Don't worry, you won't look stupid even if you feel it, and you will get used to it). As for learning to sing, it depends on how fast you learn the technique, and how much natural ability you start with. Anybody can learn to sing, but some people have a harder time than others. It took me about a month to learn how to sing (and I had never sung before). Just keep pressing for your goal and keep practicing, and you'll have singing down in no time. Listen to everything your teacher says, and practice whenever you can. (feel free to message me if you want to know more)

How long's a piece of string? Does that answer yer question about how long it'll take ya to learn how to sing properly, me old son? It's different for EVERYONE, so there is no definitive answer to that one. With a bloody good vocal coach, ya can improve DRAMATICALLY within the space of about a year or what 'ave ya, but ya can NEVER be the best ya can be in MY mind, son- ya could be bleedin' Pavarotti, but there'd ALWAYS be room for improvement, cöck! However, (and I'm gonna be BRUTALLY honest with ya here, my son- man-to-man), seein' as yer only fifteen and yer a BLOKE, I don't think now's the right time to be thinkin' about singin' lessons, 'cos yer voice is gonna be in the process of breakin' anytime now, and so, AT BEST, all those lessons are gonna go to bleedin' waste, 'cos yer only gonna have to learn again FROM SCRATCH when yer voice settles into it's NEW pitch, and, AT WORST, ya can actually **** yer bloody throat COMPLETELY by tryin' to sing when yer voice is so unstable! My suggestion to you is wait until yer voice has broken FULLY, and THEN, and ONLY then, start thinkin' about takin' singin' lessons, 'cos quite frankly, my son, I think it'll be a waste of the teacher's AND your time, (and, more importantly, a waste of bloody money- [money, which, for the record, you've already catagorically admitted yerself, you AIN'T really got]), if ya were to start takin' lessons NOW, cöck! My suggestion is wait a few years or what 'ave ya, THEN take lessons once yer voice has matured, 'cos like I told ya, I still say it's gonna be FAR too unstable at the minute, when takin' into account yer age! Please take my word for it, and DON'T waste yer time OR money. Wait! Patience is a virtue, my son, and good things come to those who wait! Happy New Year to ya. Peace and love! Be lucky! :)

If paying for ongoing lessons it going to cost too much money and time you can download some very good guides to teach yourself how to sing with.
This site lists a few and reviews them.

Also, 15 is not too late. I know a lady who started singing when she was 34 and is now nearly 40 and gets regular gigs and has a fantastic voice. 15 is young dude ... very young though it is always hard to see that when you are that age i understand.
Good luck!

I have been singing since i was 8, i love it. but its gonna take a few years, you need to learn how to read and write notes, and how to use you breath appropriately. Singing is not easy at all, you would need at least 3 lessons a week for over 2 years. Good luck!

It would be a good idea to go to a music school or a vocal instructor to get an evaluation of your voice. Also it does depend on how good you are at differentiating between various tones and pitches.
And once you get started - practice, practice, practice.
Just curious, what are you trying to learn to sing? Classical, Opera, Contemporary?

If you want to know a very good vocal coach try to visit https://tr.im/eYNH4 an online vocal coaching tutorial. Everything, ranging from breathing fundamentals, vocalizing exercises, techniques on singing high and low notes, how to not go off-key/out of tune/off-sync, musicianship and music theory, proper diction and articulation, and a lot more are covered, all in our native language. It can be quite technical in nature, but it really helps since it covers the musical aspect of singing deeply and not just concentrates on how to impress people with your vocal range, riffs and runs and other cliches that do not necessarily make one a complete vocalist.

a good voice coach
you may never learn to sing
its all in the sole
good luck
hope to hear you on the charts soon
one thing you must remember
your voice is individual
you sing the best you can
don't let people knock you for trying
go go go
when people put you down for trying
its only cos they are jealous of what you got
good luck
