Do you believe in a GOD???? What are your thoughts?!?!?
Do you believe in a God. I want to know what kind of God or gods do you believe in. Not just the god in Christian text. But what are your beliefs on a higher being/power. If you do believe in a god(s), why do you believe in? What satisfaction do you personally get by believing in that being? Did you always believe in a god? Did you believe in a god when you were younger and not believe now? Did you believe in one god and now worship another? How do you think the world/earth as we know it was created? Do you really believe that there is an afterlife, heaven, hell, etc...... I would also like to hear anything else you might want to add
Im genuinely curious, i want to know other peoples perspectives and beliefs. Im not sure what i believe in right now. I guess you can say im on a spiritual journey. I want to read your thoughts and ideas on the topic. Please be open minded to others answers, i dont want any negativity or anything :)
wow there are so many great responses. i wish i could choose at least 5. this topic has really opened my eyes to some things.

People often need something to help them through their lives. They want to be part of something and want to fit in with what other people believe in. It is called a herd mentality, and it is a survival instinct. But often people believe in things that are not true. To an objective observer, the universe behaves in a highly predictable or pattern oriented way. These patterns can lead people to think that God does not seem to be actively involving himself in the behavior of the universe. As far as the ancient miracles, modern science and scientific principals caste significant doubt on the validity of many of the ancient observations or claims. All of this information and scientific research so far does not mean that there is no God acting in some way behind the scenes that we do not understand. But on thing that seems to be the case is that it is highly unlikely that any human understands the way God works if he exists.
Another observation is that when we look at things we see they are composed of smaller constituents. So a rock is made of grains which are made of molecules which are made of atoms which are made of much smaller things. Life seems to be the same way that is that we are made of cells. Why should there be a single God? Why can't everything and everyone all make their contribution and that together the whole universe works. It does not have to be one thing. Humanity needs to maintain an open mind on everything and together we can progress.

I was once a believer. But thanks to the "help" of a Seventh Day Adventist friend I took great interest in this Jesus character. So I started reading the buy-bull. That was enough to show me how nuts the whole thing is. That got me thinking about other things, what would a god be? afterlife? None of that made any sense. Digging further I came to the realization there is not a single shred of evidence there is or has ever been any god or gods. I grew up.
I do not know how the universe was created. It seems that it could always have existed. Nevertheless, there are an infinite number of things I do not know. There's new things to learn every moment. I can't possibly know it all. One more won't hurt me. I'm perfectly comfortable with not knowing the answer to that question.

I do not believe in any gods or goddesses. I do not believe there is an afterlife, heaven or hell. I believe that a spiritual journey must necessarily include an intellectual journey. That is, use your mind to sort through what is credible and what is not. Separate facts from metaphors, myths, fables. Read and listen to a variety of wise people, and see how they differ as well as how they are similar. Don't be in a hurry to reach conclusions, but make the pathway the purpose.

Academia states that in the absence of proof of the existence of something it must be deemed not to exist until verifiable proof is found - thus god is held not to exist pending some sort of verifiable evidence.
There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one!!! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded!!
There is not a single contemporary record from any source and even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!!
He was supposed to have been a huge problem to the Romans and produced wonderful miracles but still not one contemporary record?
Even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!!
Pilot is recorded in the Roman record as a somewhat lack luster man but no mention of a Jesus, a trial or crucifixion that would surely have been used to make him look brighter!!
At best he was an amalgam of those others!!
The Roman Emperor Constantine produced the bible and he was a pagan not god!!! He also organized Christianity into the Holly Roman Catholic Church!! Not in Israel or any of the countries of supposed origin but entirely ITALIAN!!
Not one word of it is contemporary with the period and was not written until several hundred years after the period the story is set in!! How did the apostles write their books more than a hundred years after they would have been dead?
What a wonder full disinformation and deception campaign he waged against his Christian enemies - so good in fact that Christians are still following the deception to this day!!!
The first person to provide a shred of verifiable evidence for God will become world famous and mega rich!! Ain't happened yet and it never will!!
So how does this primitive belief survive? The answer is simple and very down to Earth!!
Acceptance of a supernatural claim tends to promote cooperative social relationships. This communication demonstrates a willingness to accept, without skepticism, the influence of the speaker in a way similar to a child's acceptance of the influence of a parent. By encouraging this kind of behavior where the most intense social relationships occur it facilitates the lack of skepticism and deters more open minded thinking.
They are christian, Muslim or the other religions depending where they were born simply because they were indoctrinated by their parents as very young children. They will go on to indoctrinate their own children and those will go on to indoctrinate their grandchildren!!
Atheists have the intellect to see through the conditioning and escape into the real world!!
Agnostics have the intellect to see through the conditioning but lack the courage to throw of the conditioning entirely.
Sadly Christians are still held firmly prisoner by the self perpetuating brainwashing!!

I believe in God. The one and only true God that you probably don't want to hear about. The Christian God. I grew up in church so there was never a time where I didn't believe in a higher power. It's only now that I'm older that I actually see God in action. I can't imagine not believing in some time of higher being. Otherwise life would seem so meaningless.

Triune God, Father Son and Holy spirit. Always believed, at least since I've been baptized. And evolution and the big bang theory is stupid and scientists who say the worlds been here for millions of years; it was made in 7 days(or six, the 7th day God rested) and has been around for about 6,000 years. Heaven and hell are real, I believe, and only people who believe and trust in God above all things will go to heaven.

I do not beleive that there is a god! I beleive that there once was a man named Jesus but I do not beleive in him as a creator! I beleive in evolution it is what makes most sense to me and I hve always beleived in it.... It is scientifically proven vrs faith! I think the world was created by like organisms that were in space and they formed something wonderful...that's not the realy scienticif way I would like to explain it but it's the short version. Then people can about from animal evolving like from primates and they were here before us from other organisms that formed from other organisms( I know it sounds kinda stupid but it makes since to me and I can't realy think of how to explain it right now). I don't belive that there is a heven or he'll or whatever I beleive that when we die our soul will be made into an animal or into another person so it's kinda like reincarnation ! Then backe to the whole heven hell thing I don't understand why people are affrai that they are going to go to hell because I thought that god will forgive you nomatter what and I also don't understand how supposedly the virgin Mary was a virgin because she had a baby and the last time I checked you had to eiter have sex or get invetro to get pregnant and I don't thinkthat they had invetro back then! So I hoped I helped you out:)
Source(s): There are alot of spelling and grammar errors but eiter my phone fixes them and I don't notice or it's just that I am really bad at spelling and grammar Oh and a teacher of mine had this saying I don't know exactly what it was but it was along the lines of I'd rather be on my knees praising the lord later knowing there is a god than doin it now not knowing if there is a lord/god it was something like that - 1 decade ago
I was born and raised Catholic, so I've believed in God my entire life. I've been learning more about my religion in high school from my friends, who are also Catholic. I believe Catholic doctrine. I believe in a loving and just God. I believe in creation by God, but do not necessarily disbelieve evolution. I believe in an afterlife, and I believe in Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory.
I have had many personal religious experiences. I did research on saints for my Confirmation and ultimately chose St. Monica. I also like St. Anthony, patron saint of lost items. For clarification, Catholics do not worship Mary or the saints- we honor them.
I have been blessed in that I have been able to see God a lot in my life recently. In my friends, in His answers to my prayers, etc.
So, that's what I believe...

I believe in the Christian God only, because He is the only God there is. I believe what the bible says about heaven and hell. Jesus is the only way to God, like He said in John 14:6. You can get other opinions, but salvation can only come through Jesus, as you accept Him as your Lord and Savior.

I believe in the gods of my Irish ancestors (in that they are reflections of one truth). I once believed in the Christian god. I believe in reincarnation, not salvation. I believe in magic. I practice magic. Some will call me a fool or a satanist for this. THe world was created by the consolidation of stellar remnants, from previously dead stars. Evolution is a fact. Monkeys were not involved.
