my dog ate a stud earring. help!?

my 4lb yorkie may have ate a small stud earring. my little sister took her earring out ( I didn't know this) and put it on the floor, where she says my dog then ate it. I can't find the earring anywhere, but my dog never eats non food items (and rarely eats food ones) so im not sure it actually happened. It may have happened, it may not have. My sister is 5 and has a tendency to exaggerate. Do i need to take her to the vet, or will this pass through her digestive tract okay? the end of it isn't really razor sharp, but im afraid it will cause her some damgage.

your safest bet would be to call the vet and see what he/she says, could possibly pass through but with the earing having a sharp point you dont want to wait to find out, call the vet, explain and than go from there, good luck

It will most likely NOT pass, but I can tell you it WILL PUNCTURE HER INTESTINAL TRACT. To the vets you should go.....

Take her to the vet and get an x-ray to see if the earring is in there. If it is, the vet can advise you to either wait or get it removed. I'm sure vets see things like this all the time.

well if u take ur dog to the vet and ur not sure it will be wasting money, i would say most likely the dog would throw it up, i have a yorkie too and he eats so much stuff. I would say if there is not signs of acting strange that might mean that he didnt eat it. hope i helped

I would ring the vet and ask their advice. They'll know best.

Don't worry, this too shall pass.

Take her to the vet, please. Don't wait around and see if this is going to pass. Your dog is very small and this is a metal object. Chances are it will NOT pass.

    Ex-ray and/or ultra sound.
