If your job requires you to move, you've got one key factor taken care of: employment. As someone whose relocated from NY, I appreciate what Atlanta has to offfer. The city is cosmopolitan with great restaurants, nightspots, interesting neighborhoods, theater, museums ... the list goes on.

Some areas have a small-town feel to them. Like Smyrna. When I lived there, store vendors often greeted me by name and the city sponsored a number of fun events like fairs and concerts, that we generally went to.

Atlanta is a polyglot of people: black, white, Asian, Hispanic. Some neighborhoods are safe, others (i.e. south Atlanta) I'd never consider living in. Since you're required to move in order to keep your job, I assume your company would pay for you to come down and scope out a place to live. Take advantage of that. You'll get a feel for the area. I do suggest, since traffic is horrendous during rush hour, that you look at communities in the proximity of your office, if that's possible and affordable.

    Good luck - and welcome.

There seems to be something of an attitude in Atlanta. Alot of places have pretty bad service... I dont know why. Maybe its just me.

I mostly see just black an white people, usually less Asians and Latinos but it depends on where you go obviously.

Every time Ive been there Ive felt perfectly safe of course. I always stuck around downtown and the Georgia Dome for work though. Business-sales, kinda sucks in my exp. People seem cheap, we sell half as much as we usually do there compared to the average city. We even caught people trying to steal from our booth a few times and ive never seen that anywhere else and we were in a nice spot too.

I just visited there yesterday for the first time. I liked it. The downtown is bustling and there seems to be a lot to do.
