At what age did you take the bottle away and only give a sippy cup?

I think it was around 15 months. My son did very well. We just took away the bottle cold turkey and gave him the sippy cup. Now we are trying to get him to use a cup.

Sippy cups aren't any better than bottles for causing dental and speech problems, in fact some studies suggest they are worse.

I use sippy cups in cars and outside only, but even then I tend to use "sports" bottles instead as they close and are less likely to cause speech problems. At home my kids use normal cups, from 6 months.

We switched over at 13 months. He did well until bedtime. It took him about 3 or 4 days to adjust but he took to it well after this. Try the nubby or munchkin cups with the soft spout. They are easier on teething babies. Good luck.

All three of my children were drinking out of normal cups and glasses at 1-year of age.
