Are high calcium levels harmful to my tank?

20 gal reef aquaruim. all other levels are good. calcium is running around 800. my pulsating xenia doesnt seem to mind.

Update:

My PH is 8.3 and my KH is 179. I think I do need to get another test kit. We are having problems with a diatom bloom though.

All it will do is accelerate coral growth, assuming all other parameters are fine. You may also notice more coralline algae and possibly calcium deposits forming around the water line and on the glass.

However, a calcium level of 800mg/l is incredibly high. I would get another reading with a different test kit.

With calcium that high you will want to keep an eye on your carbonate hardness and pH.

try and get it back down to 480 - 500 with a water change
