Why do kids like animal-shaped rubber bands?

These silly rubber bands that are shaped like animals are all the rage with kids. Why do they like them so much?

    its awesome! you can stretch it and twist it in any form and the shape stays the same! why wouldnt they be fun! kids can be easily entertained by it for a while trying to tangle it up. and its cheap too, about 2$ for 20 of them :)
