Should I drop off or mail my resume to a firm that is NOT advertising any jobs?

In many cases, especially with professional firms such as law firms and consultants, they are always looking for the right person to walk through the door but they may not advertise positions because they don't want a ton of resumes - they want the right person to seek them out. So I would call them and see if you can speak to the HR manager (check out their website to see if it mentions a particular person.) If you can't make an appointment to drop by, at least you will have a name to direct your resume to when you mail it.
