Why do you answer questions when you know nothing about fish and think they should be kept in bowls?

people don't do research before they partake in these hobbies. what upsets me is when they don't cycle a tank and then wonder what is wrong with the tank.

everyone makes mistakes.

I don't claim to be a "fish expert" as there are others who are more qualified than myself. It drives me nuts also when people suggest that their fish can be kept in small bowls or 10-gallon tank.

I admit that I started out with a 10-gallon tank myself when I began the hobby of fish-keeping. That was because I do not have the room for anything bigger and picked it out to fill a particular niche in my home. I believe that it is better that someone's introduction to the hobby with a smaller tank is best than not get into it at all, so long as they realize that they are putting themselves at a serious disadvantage from the start and realize that they shouldn't blame the tropical fish hobby for being "too hard to succeed with" if they failed. I agree that the bigger the tank, the better but I also have to concede to a person's finances as well.

As long as I conformed to tank size regulations required for certain fish and how to properly take care of them. I have been in this hobby of fish-keeping for four years now and I have had very few problems arise. Because of that 10-gallon tank that I had many years ago, I am now a proud owner of two 5-gallon tanks (one will keep a Betta, the other will keep African Dwarf Frogs), two 10-gallon tanks (both will hold up to 18 Tetras each), one 30-gallon tank (currently has 7 Feeder Goldfish, 1 Blind Cave Fish, 1 Plecostomus and 1 Sunset Coral Dwarf Platy) and a 125-gallon tank that will be used to keep Cichlids or possibly Goldfish).

So you see that starting small can lead to bigger and better things, but I will never suggest that a person keep any fish in a bowl.

They think because their fish is surviving (not thriving) in their bowl at home it makes the perfect environment.

alot of people are not aware of the fact that most fish will not survive in a bowl,they think theyre giving out the right answer.

properly you reported it your self. Its to small for a heater. get rid of it. If its too small for a heater, its to small for a beta because of the fact betas want warmers. Betas want a 5 gallon tank minimum.

I and lots of other knowledgeable people do not think fish should be kept as "pets" at all
