No color just black and white in video mode?

My samsung tv works fine in regular tv mode but when i plugged my wii it showed everything in black and white so i tried my dvd player that didn't work either so then i tryed my new 360 and that is even in balck and white is it because it needs a hdmi cable or is it just that the tv is broken

    The female ends on your TV could be bad or you need to run it through a VCR, happens to my 360 but used the VCR and now it works in color.
