Raising the hem line on a bridesmaid dress...?
I have a braids maids dress that is beautiful but the length is all the way to the floor, which was fine for the wedding, but now I want to wear it to a ball my husband's school puts on every year and I want to raise the hem line to knee length. The fabric is taffeta and I have experience in sewing, mostly costumes for ren faires and the such. Should I attempt to do this myself, and if so how? Or should I take it into a professional?

Hey, taffeta is a very slippery fabric and unless you have stitched it or hemmed it by hand before you should not attempt to do so on a very expensive dress.
You should have it done by a professional tailor/seamstress. You should ask them to do a blind stitch (where they use clear thread that does not show on the fabric) and is usually used for this kind of hem.
