I am going to a community college for my first two years to obtain my A.A. and then transferring over to a University. With my A.A, will I be able to become a substitute teacher. How long will it take of schooling if I want to get my Master's and what is required to practice alone? Its Allot I know, but I figured I would ask all at once. ha ha thanks

Most clinical psychologist positions require at least the Ph.D from a clinical psychology program. Some prison systems accept the Master's as long as you are supervised and/or complete an internship.

Licensure is also required by most states to practice alone. Those requirements will vary by state.

    1. Yes, you can sub teach in all states with an associates, the pay is around 60-100 bucks a day depending on where you are.

    2. The other person is right, to be a clinical psychologist- a masters wont suffice, you need a phd. A social worker and a counselor are the only two that are able to work alone without supervision with just a masters degree.

    3. Thus, if your a freshman, youll need 3 more years to get the bachelors, then 4-5 years in a phd program, then another 1-2 years internship to be a clinical psyc. A SW.counselor would only require 3 more years for the bachelors, then 1, maybe 2 years masters (and 2 years of periodic supervision, but working alone).

    Hope that helps

Getting a doctorate isn't needed for medical psychology. in case you finished an undergrad degree in psychology, you only choose particular education courses (a graduate degree, which takes 2-3 years). although, a Ph.D of Psy. D is an option. They take approximately 5 years to acquire after 4 years of undergrad.
