Mosley:“I hope it doesn’t push through[Floyd vs Pac],the best fight out there is me & Pacquiao." Any thoughts?
Mosley said it before his first preference was to fight with Pacquaio since he is the p4p champ. Mosley has said Mayweather is scared and Pacquaio isn't. How does this reflect his status with GBP who is promoting Mayweather against Pacquaio?
These are some of the several statements Mosley made as well:
“I hope it doesn’t push through, obviously I have my own selfish reasons. But I also hope it doesn’t because it’s not the best fight out there. I am Number One, I am the best welterweight in the world.
“Really, the best fight out there that can be made is me and Pacquiao, two real warriors who will go at it in a fight that won’t leave the fans dissatisfied or disappointed. That’s the best fight.”
“If Manny and I sat together at the table, just us, we could get this deal done. It would fair (money) for him and fair for me. It’s all the other people who get involved, who worry about what they’re getting. Manny would get the money he’s supposed to getting."
"Manny and I wouldn’t be like Mayweather who who wants to get all the money for himself.”

I agree 100 % with what shane said and I am not just saying that because I am a big sugar shane fan. He is clearly the # 1 welter out there in my opinion and this is the fight I always wanted to see and it should have happened. Shane never whines about money like many other fighters and in the end is always willing to take the smaller cut to get the fight made.He has fought just about everyone out there, never ducked anyone and has earned his spot as the #1 welter in the world. There is also no question that Manny VS Shane would be far more exciting than Floyd vs Manny. If Shane and Manny ever got into the ring together it would be an all out war, a slugfest, a fight nobody would forget or stop talking about for a very long time. Floyd vs Manny has a lot more to do with money and legacy than it has to do with 2 fighters putting on an entertaining/competitive fight, it is the fight that would generate the most interest and money out there but the fight itself I dont expect to be anywhere as exciting when compared to Shane fighting Manny.

If any of those three got together the fights would be classic. I do rank Shane Mosley as the best welterweight in the world because over the last decade he's been fighting the best and when he's lost it was when he moved up to fight Vernon and Winky. I know he lost to Cotto but if those guys fought 10 times I think Mosley would win more. I don't rank Manny that high at welter because he only has a few wins in the division and Floyd, well he hasn't fought a top 5 welterweight ever except maybe Judah but Zab is no longer close to being in the top 5 which would be Mosley, Williams, Pacquiao, Beryo, Clottey, and Margarito.

Mosley is an opportunist, he's old so he wants get cash.
After realizing Mayweather's popularity, he went to inside the ring to challenge Mayweather.
I don't think he really wants to fight Pacquiao as much as he declares because he did sign his fight against Berto during the Pacquiao-Cotto fight. If you look now, I think all fighters realize Pacquiao's popularity all over the globe, so being an opportunist he wants to share the ring (and money) with Pacquiao.
“Really, the best fight out there that can be made is me and Pacquiao, two real warriors who will go at it in a fight that won’t leave the fans dissatisfied or disappointed. That’s the best fight.” - Mosley
I agree with his statement right here. No disrespect to Mayweather, but many of Mayweather's recent fights are too technical and sometimes boring. I just don't think any of his fights are worth being called Fight of the Year because it lacks action that many fans wanted to see. I don't believe that Mayweather-Pacquiao will be action-packed. It's just uncharateristic of Mayweather to have an exciting match ever since he moved to welterweight division.
But if we have Pacquiao vs Mosley, there would be technicality, excitement, and of course heart. The winner of course will be a multiple welterweight championship holder.
Source(s): Wow, nice opinion by Besim. If Mosley wins against Berto, he really deserves a fight against the winner of Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. - How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.

My thoughts:
This would no doubt be a great, great fight. Both guys have fast hands, Iron chins, can hit very hard, and are hall-of-famers. It would be a close fight if it were to happen, either man stands an equal chance of beating the other. In a way, it's more competitive than Mayweather-Pacquiao in that Mosley won't be afraid to mix it up.
If Mayweather-Pacquiao doesn't come, match these two together.
thanks for posting this, mi amigo!

Many of you are uneducated, obviously young, and delusional boxing fans. Mayweather is not 2nd best PFP in the world. You talk as if Manny won the PFP title in the ring. He didn't. This is a subjective, open to bias, anyone can qualify, mythical title. Floyd has never lost a professional prizefight. Regardless of whether you less than knowledgeable boxing fans can appreciate his superb technique, he is the best. Maybe not the most exciting because he doesnt throw as many punches as other fighters, but his overall technique is the best and he has remained undefeated for more than 13 years because of that ability. Mosley is an admitted cheater, but because he is a nice guy and exciting fighter, people have conveniently forgot about his PED use. How nice. Yet Margarito is villified. not even given a chance to redeem himself like Shane. Shane got outboxed by Cotto. How can anyone hoenstly think he would outbox Manny or Floyd? Manny is too young for him and Floyd is too good for him. Mosley will be lucky to get past Berto. Bad timing. All this crap aside and forgiving the lack of class he showed to Floyd after the Marquez fight, Shane has had a good career.

I cant believe Mosley would say he doesnt want the fight between Pacquaio and Mayweather to push through when that is really what has been dominating this forum in questions and answers. Most fans want Mayweather to lose and Pacquaio to knock him out.
Mosley is not wrong, he is actually correct. I think hardcore fans want to see Pacquaio vs Mosley because they are true warriors with war on their minds. Mayweather is only after the money than legacy. Mosley will exchange punches with Pacquaio and he wont run unlike Floyd.
For most fans who are not hardcore boxing fans, of course they want Mayweather because they know little about true boxing. They think of the popularity of the names and not really how they fight.
Pacquaio vs Mosley are two champions. Mayweather and Pacquaio, you only have one true champion.

Mosley has a point. I think Mosley vs Pacquaio would be more exciting. Both boxers have a lot of heart and are not afraid to get hit. Mayweather usually backs of from slugging, that is not his style. That is probably why most fans consider Mayweather a boring fighter. If Mayweather didnt had a wild character and a big mouth, not many will buy tickets to see him. Mosley and Pacquaio doesn't need to act like an animal to sell tickets, their fighting style fits what fans want to see.

First, I'd like to say that since Mosely's fight with Andre Berto is coming soon, he needs to put his focus and concentration here first so that he is 100% when they meet in the ring. But whatever happens after that fight, and depending on the status of Mayweather-Pacquiao megafight, Mosely COULD possibly try to get a bout with either one. A fight with Mayweather would be a great fight, between two good welterweights. But the more exciting and action-filled fight would be with Manny. Mosely is willing to fight anyone without hesistance, fights for his fans, and just wants to fight. PAC and Sugar both have speed and power, but this could be a difficult fight for Pacquiao, to be honest. I am a fan of PACMAN, and I think he would have a good chance against Mosely, but it'll definitely be a battle.

I've said it many times, Mosley/Pacman would be a great fight. Both will come to fight and both are gladiators. Floyd will just run and box and it will be a boring fight. I think Pacman beats Mosley but no way Pacman is going to beat Floyd. As much as I'd love to see Pacman win, he just don't match up well with Floyd. Floyd will run, box and counter Manny all night long. Manny may win a round or 2 but in the end Floyd will dominate him like he did JMM. I'm a die hard Pac fan but I know boxing and Floyd wins this fight easy.
