when the dress code changed back around april i was in a different state (still corporate store) and in the flyer i saw it had the new shirts and it said that we are allowed to wear either khaki pants or black khaki pants. my new manager in this new state (this one is corporate as well) says that we arent allowed to wear them. anyone know the real answer? please state how you know your answers
but they cant tell me that i have to buy new pants if the dress code states that its allowed.

Yes ALL corporate store employees are allowed to wear black slacks or any solid colored slacks. It changed in April in all stores but not everyone is aware of it, I sure as hell took advantage, i hate wearing khakis. Just last week we had a conference call w/ the District Manager and I was surprised about how many ppl didn't know about it. It is in the new handbook and in the employee references if you look on the computer in the office you should see a folder that says MAP or Store Forms or Blue Book Forms, I know its got to be in there somewhere. I think your new mgr just isn't aware since so many of our mgrs didn't know either. I wouldn't just show up w/ black slacks though, that would start a rift w/ your mgr and I know how catty some can be. Ask for a NEW employee handbook, just say you want to read over the tuition reimbursement (which they have reinstated) and job requirements etc. When you find the part about dress code call you District Manager to confirm. I've worked for BBV for 3 yrs now, some mgrs just flat out ignore the updates and what they say goes, your mgr seems like one of them.

All policies (e.g. dress code) of Blockbuster employees are (or should be) made available for you in a policy manual or handbook. Ask you manager if you could see it, although it should be out in the open. Any new dress code info should be in there. You could also ask your district manager.
I think black pants look so much better than khakis, Yuk

If your manager says no, the answer is no. What other states do could be different than yours.
