    MY personal favorite is "The Gospel of John"

    because it is quite literally The Gospel of John

    without anything added

    and without anything omitted.

    But...that's a very particular "measure" by which to measure a film, one that most film-watchers don't use.

    Perhaps the best in the sense of "How good a movie is it?"

    is "Jesus of Nazareth".
