What kind of fabric is damask?

I've already asked what brocade was and gotten a stellar answer, now I'd like to know about damask.

Damask is a fabric similar to brocade, but flatter... typically used for table linens. It's jacquard-woven, with floral or geometric designs. One side will have shiny design (because of satin floats) on matte background, the other will have matte design on shiny background.

Started out as a silk fabric, but now can be found in virtually any fiber.

ohhh i am not sure, I think damask may be more print or pattern than fabric. I have found Damask print in different kinds of fabric, from silk to poly to cotton. I got a VERY smart shower curtain in chocolate brown and ivory damask print cotton last week for a steal to HomeGoods. I love how sophisticated it looks. Hope this is a correct answer.
