Arguing over religion?
Why does everyone feel the need to argue about religion???
christianity especially...
seriously..
God is love.
nobody is showing that through all this arguing and shouting out how much better they are then everyone else all the time..
seriously get over yourselves...
you are not God's gift to man. Jesus is...
so newsflash you don't have all the answers...
ok well let me rephrase...
i'm fine with people stating their opinions...
but its just sad how people can get so angry over this subject...
i wish everyone would just love each other!
i don't know it just seems like Christians sometimes think they know everything or something...
people just need to be humble and actually listen to each other instead of getting angry!

"Don't argue, because I'm right."
Is that a fair representation of what you're saying?

Some would say argue and debate are the same thing.
To feel disheartened by someone else arguing against your religion would show that you didn't even have much belief in it in the first place.
I see religion as a way to challenge my way of thinking. There are unexplainable things out there that science hasn't the foggiest on. If it finds an explanation in the future, fair enough. But to challenge a persons beliefs is not necessarily aggressive.
It can be thought provoking and faith inspiring in some circumstances.

Because the fact it has a big impact on our society and potentially our lives (many people who come here live in Christian-dominated countries, hence the arguing against Christianity) might have something to do with it.
Anyway, as an R&S veteran, I've seen these "let's make peace" talks all the time. The attempts are invariably ignored.

no, there is no point.
it doesn't matter if your god is real or not. it doesn't matter if you can or can not prove it.
people believe what they want. instead of everyone picking apart each other over religious ideology, why not just see what we DO have in common?
in many religions, there are shared ideas. peace, love, acceptance, tolerance, etc.....why not focus on these and leave the rest to personal choice?
i see no reason to call someone a derogatory name or put down their mental abilities simply because they made a personal choice that only effects their lives.
most people that are religious, keep it to themselves. only the extremists push for legislation, or restrictions based on religious teachings. it has taken me a while, but i finally see it now.
we don't realize it, but we are all just fodder for the powers that be. they know we sit around and bicker like old women - they relish the fact that we are so busy fighting amongst ourselves, that we pay little attention to what they are doing.
no, i don't have all the answers - no one really does when you get right down to it. it is belief based on your faith in something greater than yourself. facts are meaningless to the believer.

Religion is a passionate subject, for both sides. I hate to see someone get discouraged when they are honestly seeking a biblical answer, but this is Yahoo, and everyone has an opinion. Live and let live

I like it that everyone has different opinions here. In real life, people are afraid to express themselves on such a sensitive subject so it's taboo. It's fun to see the taboo broken with all sorts of ideas thrown out. I enjoy being challenged in my ideas. It forces me to keep an open mind.

Remember: There is ABSOLUTELY NO CREDIBLE, TANGIBLE, VERIFIABLE, VALID, or IRREFUTABLE EVIDENCE of any 'god'. There is SCANT EVIDENCE for an 'historical jesus'. There is no evidence for a 'divine jesus.'
