why must violence exist in this world?

i have always been a peaceful man...

i have done my best to be a kind and loving man...

and yet i have sometimes been forced

to seriously harm others...

and i mean... SERIOUSLY...

but i never CHOSE to do these things...

i was forced into "survival-mode".

i regret nothing, and yet

i still feel regret...

i never wanted to hurt these people...

but why do i keep doing it?

and why WILL i keep doing it?

is survival more important than peace?

is killing sometimes a good thing?

Well it has to hang out somewhere. Our world seems just

as good a place as any.

Lets look at it a bit. Violence is a control issue. Sometimes its

actualized as a means by which to control others by force and

sometimes its used as a threat weapon. Like "do what I say

or I'll kill you". Society in general seems to place violence in

one or the other of two basic categories. Unsanctioned violence

where a person acts violently in opposition to its best interest.

Sanctioned violence where a person acts violently in concert

with its interests. The same is true for the individual. Each of

us has a discriminating viewpoint of when we will use violence

as a means to gain control and when we will not. There is

another societal category where a human uses violence simply

for the feeling its gives them. They call these people criminally

    insane.

Martial arts is an excellent example where violence is taught

with the discriminating quality of justified violence and

unjustified violence. Again, the point is one of control. In this

art form, a person is taught everything known to use

violence and is also taught that true control lies in the

ability to resolve issues without actually being violent.

Interestingly, there is very little in the area of philosophy

as it relates to violence. I am amazed that philosophy

deals with such an intrinsic characteristic in such a

delinquent fashion. Maybe thats for future philosophers.

You are simply fooling yourself as you have always had a choice in how you act, re-act and handle every situation and circumstance that has arisen in your life.

I have more than fifty years experience in the study and practice of the martial way and the only times I have seriously injured others was when my own ego was out of control, which makes the same my fault as it is always just as easy to subdue someone without having to seriously injure them.

Please, look at your avatar, a picture you chose and in which you appear to be glorifying the cult of death as the various media portray such rather than the true reality of death, violence and harm done to others yet you claim to be a peaceful individual. There is a word in English for one who says one thing yet does another.

Thich Nhat Hanh has wisely said that to have peace one must choose to live and to be peace. He began to teach this when he was living in Viet Nam during the US policing action that took place in that country. He is still teaching the same today.

Regardless of what journey and path you may choose to follow, it might always be a wise course of action to first examine one's self and to know one's self and then to be honest with one's self.

my friend, we all sometimes take the place of god, and give the judge to the man kind. we forgot that even god postponed his judge till the end of man.

killing will never be good, and if there is any goodness in killing, why the ghost is hunting every slayer in the world even though he do nothing but killing evil from the world

Society is ignorant, led down the wrong path by ignorant leaders, who make deals in the middle of the night, so weapons contractors can make millions of dollars, by using the minorities as cattle, and the American people as fools.

It is said the flesh will do battle in a spiritual struggle and the flesh will loose. How does one know if they have been chained into a spiritual struggle where only the flesh dies and the soul remains to be free.
