What are the chances the weather will be warm again in Orlando?

So...we'll be flying to Orlando, FL on the 20th of this month for a wedding. I've been checking the weather constantly, and it's been FREEZING!

What are the chances it will get nicer by the 20th? And what's weather typically like in January in Orlando? Do i DARE ask if it's pool weather ever?

You're right, it IS FREEZING here in Florida (from a relative standpoint). I can't remember a time in the last 20 some years I've lived in Tampa that we've had such a lengthy cold snap. My couple of warm sweaters have been getting a workout. I don't even own a proper winter coat anymore, so that makes it even more difficult to stay warm. (I'm not complaining though, as I realize that 30F is still much warmer than other parts of the country!)

Now on to your question...I believe the worst of the cold snap will be this weekend (yes, worse than this past week) and then by the middle of next week the temperatures will get more back to normal. Normal "average temps" in January is lows in the 50's and high's in the low to mid 70's. Of course we have plenty of days that beat those averages, and 80+ is quite possible in January. I don't really trust the extended forecasts, because any more than a few days out is usually just predicted to be "average". The 5-day forecasts are usually pretty accurate.

Now for pool weather, that's kind of a relative thing. I've seen plenty of "northerners" don their suits and hop in for a swim in January. I myself would be too cold especially in a non-heated pool. Now, if the pool is heated, as many of the hotel pools are, I think it would be quite tolerable if you're not a cold wimp like me. Again, it's a relative thing depending on what you are used to.

Hope you have a great trip to the Sunshine State!

Source(s): I'm from Tampa, originally from Chicago. I used to come to Florida for vacations in January and didn't think twice about going for a swim. When I moved here, I turned into a cold wimp. LOL

According to the weather channel, within the next 10 days the weather will be back into the low 70s. However, weather is fickle this time of year, so it's hard to know this far in advance. Your best bet is to plan for anything and to check weather.com a day or two before you leave for a better idea of the predictions for the time you will be here. As far as the pool goes, I personally wouldn't even get in a heated pool this time of year, but it all depends on what you are used to, I suppose.

You should pack for warm weather and cold weather. I was in Orlando in December and was able to swim in the hotel pool. There will probably warm days and some cold.

I have a feeling that it will have warmed up by then!

By then it won't be as cold as it is right now, but it will still be very cold. My Birthday is Jan. 23rd and have NEVER had a warm birthday!
