toddler chokes while eating?

My daughter, who is 21 months, has always been a good eater. Lately, though, she has been choking every time she eats. We give her smaller and smaller pieces, but it doesn't help. She chokes then pukes. It's not every meal that she pukes, that is a bit more rare (once or twice a week), but she chokes no matter what she is eating. Any ideas on what we can do? And I already plan to bring this up to her doctor, I just wanted to know if anyone else has dealt with this. There is a good possibility that she is autistic, I'm not sure if that will make this harder to handle or not. None of my other children have ever done this. What can I do?

One of my kids did something similar. For him I think he was just swallowing different than he usually did. This is hard to explain, but It's like after a child learns to walk, you will find them experimenting with different ways to distribute weight on their feet. Like walking on their tip toes or on their heels.

This wil most likely resolve itself, but mentioning this to the doctor is a good idea if it continues and is very bothersome for her.

Try to be sure she isn't too distracted while eating, and maybe eat with her one on one where you each have the others full attention, and see if it helps.

She could have something hung in her throat and it really gets her when she eats. It also could be phlem(mucus coming up the throat). Just be real cautions if you don't know cpr i would go learn it now.
