As I am Engineer with post grad degrees who has read extensively on the subject, all the facts on global warming or climate change as a result of human interaction are still not known or unproven. Supporting this are:

    1) corruption of the data collection, modeling, peer review of a climate change model ( we know that NASA's Hansen, and the UK/Penn State climatologists have used data selectively.

    2) reluctance of media, public, politicians to make sure challenges are established - people are "sheeple" phenomena and tend to try to favor a popular position.

    3) difficulty in developing a sound, predictive climate model - climatologists have trouble predicting local weather farther than two weeks out, predicting hurricanes/typhoons, etc. What makes anyone think we have a multivariate model designed and proven at this point?

Folks, this is a technical problem best solved by letting unencumbered and open-minded scientists and engineers isolate the root cause(s), if any, of climate change.

I will tell you, that as an engineer, I can make a statistical model based on whatever facts I choose to include, that will prove or disprove any theory such a climate change. Based on the scientific method, it isn't until you gather ALL the facts, identify and isolate the dependent variables and test the hypotheses, do you get the rational understanding.

Three days of cold weather doesn't change months, years and decades worth of data on temperature. Also while you may be having 3 days of cold weather, you cannot assume that every where in the world is having the same 3 days of cold weather.

It's funny that every time there is a cold day, you hear a lot of people try to deny that global warming is happening. You cannot pick and choose the days when it is cold but you must collect data from a long period of time. Also, global warming is a worldwide trend, however, there may be areas in the world that may be experiencing colder, warmer, wetter, or drier than normal "weather" for a period of time. You need to understand the science and the proper analysis of a long period of data collection.

You can flip a coin a hundred times and get 7 heads in a row, does not mean the coin has only heads. Just like you can have many days in a row of cold weather (specially when it is winter).

Global warming is a threat to the environment. Since all of the chemicals from cars, factories, wood stoves, fires, etc are being transferred into the air it results in threatening the environment. The summers will get extremely hot and since we can see I believe it's the north pole that is melting unless it is the south. However, it's melting because of that. If we decided to look into History of weather, it was bad about 30 years ago. The snow used to be ridiculous and it used to be way hotter. Plus, the earth goes into these cycles which changes up the weather. Some people say that people don't really know that if it is just another cycle or if it is actually Global warming.

The world is currently warming at around 0.2C per decade. There is no dispute about this. However, the *total* warming over the last century is still only about 0.8C (because human-caused warming occurred mainly in the last few decades). There is not much noticeable difference between a cold snap of -10C and one of -9.2C. So, despite the reality of global warming, we can still expect to have cold snaps as well as heatwaves. It's just that the tendency will be towards fewer occurrences of record cold, and more of record heat. In the US, for example, record high temperatures now outnumber record low temperatures 2 to 1.

Global warming is a climactic phenomenon. Climate is regional to global in scale and is fairly stable over time.

Weather is different - it is local and highly variable.

Three nights of cold weather don't negate decades of climate trends.

Whether you believe global warming is real or not, three days - even three months - of odd weather doesn't mean anything when evaluating large scale trends over decades and centuries.

Just how global does it need to be and how many years in a row?

How much snow did the US get last year?

How about 2 years ago when Chinese couldn't travel for the new year due to the record snow and cold?

I think it is pathetic that deniers, are still calling skeptics deniers. Do some thinking.

When it's really cold it's just weather.

When it's really hot, then it's global warming. As in:

    http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/temperatu...

    and

    http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/are-you-w...

    Simple double standards really.

There is this tiny, insignificant place called the rest of the world, most of it is hotter than usual.
