My girlfriend and i live quite a way away from each other and i will randomly call her in the night when i know shes at home and sing whatever song is playing on the radio. i know it sounds cheesy, but how can i get it put on a cd? do i need a recording studio? would it just be a cover? i dont know that much about recording music, so any help is appreciated!

If you have a mic for your computer, you can do it right there....my suggestion would be to download the free software program Audacity. Read the manual, which is only about 50 pages long and tells you how to overlay vocals on a wav;mp3 track. Then, you play the song on a boom box, record yourself singing using the mike, rip the song from the CD (you can use Windows Media for that) and then just overlay your new vocals on the rip. You'll still have the original singer, but you can adjust the volume a bit so your voice is louder.
