Windows 95 driver for ASUS CD-RW CRW-5232AX wanted?
Can I replace my CD reader with an ASUS CRW-5232AX in my old Gateway P5-133 so that I can write large files to it. The only other out put from the PC is a floppy disc drive and its not connected to the internet. I can't find a driver for the CD-RW compatible with Windows 95. Will a driver for Windows 98 work, or is the CD-RW too 'Advanced' for the old operating system.
Any suggestions short of dumping the lot would be appreciated.

I doubt if a CD-RW drive will work in a 95 machine.
CD-ROM drives had only just come out with 95 because I had one on mine. Before that it was floppy or tape.
I would say that it would have nothing to do with the driver as such, but 95 would not contain the necessary files in the OS to read and write to a CD-RW drive.
Correct me if I'm wrong but if I remember correctly CD-RW drives didn't come out till at least the XP OS which would make it about 1999/2000.
Also 95 is limited as to what it can handle file wise because it ran on the FAT 32 file system. Big files now use the NTFS system.
95 is such old technology now, but when I had it it was the cat's whiskers and the dog's dinner!

Windows 95 will not recognise the drive, you need to find a CD-RW that is compatable with W95 such as this one
