Why do you think faith is a good thing?

Faith is defined as believing something without evidence of truth, or in spite of evidence to the contrary. If you think this is a good or virtuous quality, why so?

We all need to have faith in something. I choose to put my Faith in God. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. I want to always please my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

It would be silly to have Faith in something that had no evidence or truth. One definition does explain that one could have faith in an abstraction or a hypothesis. But that is completely different then the definition under Christian Theology: the trust in God and in His promises as made through Christ and the Scriptures by which humans are justified or saved.

Christianity has a number of arguments that prove God's existence and the authority of Scripture.

Faith is a virtuous quality because we try to follow the teachings of Christ and try to act as decent human beings, not always easy. It can be said it is the opposite of fear and brings hope.

We can see great faith in the Haitians - they have endured so much and yet they remain courageous, trusting in God. That is not easy during the best of times.

Faith is something that grows as you learn to trust something. Like faith in a chair or faith in an airplane. Faith grows from the evidence of truth. It is not blind.

They didn't blindly build an airplane.

In answer to your question, I guess I would say from a broader standpoint FAITH is a good thing because we live in a tough, hopeless, finite and difficult world. Face it - Life sucks, Life is hard. FAITH however, gives hope to the hopeless, Light in the darkness of our hearts, minds, and life. Faith provides purpose in a selfish vane world. Faith is all about positive thinking, focused good behavior, eternal progression and all about who you ought to be BECOMING in this life while helping your neighbor as well. It is about unity of purpose, unity of faith, unity of families, reasons to stay married, reasons to be good parents and a perspective about life that extends BEYOND tomorrow, beyond this life into the eternal realms that we have yet to fully realize.

Let's just say for a minute that all FAITH is erroneous, wrong, stupid and flawed - surely it makes for many (if not most) LIFE more worthwhile and of value because it should at least - make us BETTER people and people who care more for others than we do for ourselves. That is - or should be the essence of christians and FAITH - in it's purest form of course.

I would rather live a positive, hopeful, focused and unselfish life having FAITH then a life WITHOUT such hope. It basically gives life MORE meaning in my opinion.

No, but I think Christianity is a bad, terrible, negative thing because it condones people burning in Hell for etenrity with Christians in Heaven not giving a care about them at all, with no escape from hell, and the fact that they didn't go there by choice, the idea that they can't just effortlessly go up to Heaven like an 8-year-old. If 8-year olds automatcially go to Heaven, then we should have all died at such a young age. Sure, the world's population would die out, but at least no one would be forced down into Hell against their will.

Again, it's a disgusting religion. I don't just dislike it, I loathe it.

It's a good thing...for charlatans like Benny Hinn. The more blind the followers the better.

in the religious sense, it just means playing make believe. No, that is not a good quality for adults.

I see nothing good about accepting a concept that cannot be without question or thought.

    Peace,

Faith is useless without action and proof.
