Indian Policy and the Numbered Treaties affected Aboriginal women’s health and wellness?

How do you think Indian Policy and the Numbered Treaties affected Aboriginal women’s health and wellness?

Im taking a class on aboriginal women's health and wellness and this is one of our study questions. Ive been googling and getting some ideas, however i have not found a lot of material. Im hoping someone out there has some valid, input or has some references I could check out.

Because this is a women's class for Aboriginal women, I would really appreciate not getting rude comments about either party. And from the questions I assume they believe the Indian Policy and the Numbered Treaties affected Aboriginal women’s health and wellness, So Im trying to find information and sources that states it does.

thank you

Update:

I just started taking this class and I agree with you, and thats why i am looking to learn more :D

I am Canadian and a First Nations individual (Aboriginal). I cannot give you sources but, from experience, being segregated on reserves (reservations in the states) contributes to unemployment--not a lot of jobs on reserves, which leads to feelings of unproductiveness--depression/suicide, substance misuse and other mental health issues, schooling is often substandard on reserves, less access to proper nutrition and medical care, loss of language, culture, traditional roles, ceremony etc., Residential schools have contributed to all sorts of problems for First nations people.

I think I have given you some areas that will be helpful and put you on the right path. Just look through the "Indian Policy" (we call it the "Indian Act" here) and match it up with some of the topics I have listed above.

I happen to be a 1/2 breed Viking here in BC.My mother backgrounds are Haida-Nis-ga.But the funny thing is,I"M WHITE! Just like my four other brothers.People do not want to believe me ,but hey,

when it comes to biology they look pretty stupid. So that's why I never hang out them.Around where I live, none of them don't even know their heads from the hole in their owne buts.Because of what the whiteman has brainwashed them all because of whitetrash education. There happens to be an old saying about rude people like them.Ignorence,it should have been painful, then a lot of people would go out and get some help!

this is loopy. i might have in my opinion in no way observed. If William Regal is taking drugs then i ask your self what issues the different WWE superstars are taking. If people have been given Regal to get caught taking drugs 2 circumstances then there is not any doubt in my suggestions that there are different wrestlers taking drugs.
