What has happened to Adam Lambert? He seems so subdued now?

Its just a different venue now, agree with Ratz that part of Adam's appeal his is live performance charisma which does not come off the CD. But also, it was one song a week for 90 seconds on which he had to impress or go home and even then he did plenty of subdued performances, in fact mad world was the biggest hit and very subdued, tracks of my tears, etc.

He has a great rock voice and I would have loved to have heard more of that on the cd but he wanted to do more pop and while I really like the CD some of it is overproduced so you dont' get the full effect of his vocals which is a mistake but it was rushed and 19 has a track record of doing that. Still I think if you listen to sure fire winners, fever, aftermath, time for miracles, you will hear the big notes, they just don't stand out quite as much in a full song vs a 90 second snippet. others like whadaya want from me and pick u up and music again all show his great voice as does the ballads he has.

If you see his new years eve gridlock performance on you tube you will see him singing his heart out still, with the live performaces of these songs.................

Well, AI is live and a CD is recorded. Lots of singers are just better, more powerful/charismatic live. But also he maybe toning himself down due to all the hate he got after his American Music Awards performance. He needs to keep working, he wants to push it, but he knows he can't push it too far. No matter how pathetic and ridiculous this makes the public, it's ultimately about money.

Yes your so right as he can blow some notes ' but after the AMA he kinda lost me as my young kids were watching and believe me i am no prude' but that was just gross.He does have a set of pipes though.
