Why are top contributors allowed to have their Q and A private?

i can see why bottom feeding trolls would be allowed to do this, but top contributors?

how can anyone ever know for sure if they have the actual total of best answers that they claim to have?

shouldn't this be stopped?

because they can dish it out but can't take it in return!

Often top contributors are targeted by trolls. Their accounts are reported by someone who has a beef with them and they use the persons Q & A to find out when they post anything. It is unfortunate that anyone could take pleasure in doing some kind of harm to another member of the answers community, but this is a fairly common practice...thus the allowance for restricted view.

Frankly, I would never want my posts to be private. If I take the time to write something, I want it read by everyone. I would imagine the private posting is used by people who are constantly being knocked off by the silly practice of the deletion of any post with two objections against it. This allows two buddies to play little games, or to knock off people with opposing views. It renders any forum as useless and juvenile.

By the way, I am a Democrat and I don't think many Democrats want private posting, unless they are the ones being constantly unfairly deleted. My posts were deleted because I objected to name-calling and racist slurs. I notice that few Liberal thinkers stay on these forums. It seems to be tight little Republican club, many of the members very young and seemingly repeating what Limbaugh or Glenn Beck has said.

ANYONE can opt to have their Qs and As private. I did when someone started going through them all to register a lot of complaints, some of which stuck. Three week old entries were deleted. Making my record private protects me against such mischief.

when people start going through your answers and giving all of them a minus and reporting them, also put your mouse over their name and it comes up with how many questions they answered and the % best answer, if that isnt good enough multiply those together and you can get how many best answers they have

i have had multiple questions and answers deleted because i had different views on something than someone else

Top Contributors should have at LEAST as many rights as the BOTTOM FEEDERS.

You can keep your Q and A's private if you wish. Go to your profile and read the instructions. Jeez.

Yes, it perpetuates the elitist attitude that democrats so dearly desire.
