I'm having MAJOR problems with Windows Movie Maker in Vista Home Basic...can anyone help me?

My movie maker won't support the files imported from my JVC cam-corder. They show up as a .MOD file. I renamed the files to mpeg and mpg and saved them in a new folder. they will play in windows media player, but won't change from an audio file to video file for movie maker. What am I missing. I don't care about the audio, I just want to edit a movie on movie maker so I can uplaod it to the internet for you tube. Can anyone help?????

I am not sure if renaming a file will make movie maker read it.

Try to find the codec for vista to read .mod files. It then should be fully supported on movie maker.

I had a similar problem with .avi files in the past.

was sorted with the ad-hoc codec.

you can get a codec package from here:
