Word 2007 - Need to recover lost file.?
I was moving documents to the correct files yesterday, and looked up and one of my most important files had completely disappeared. I know the "name" of the file but when I go to "recovery" it wants a back-up disk, but I hadn't backed up in sometime. Does anyone know if there is a way to "recover" or "retrieve" this file without a back-up?

Yep - try some file recovery software to locate and recover the lost file.
When you delete files the data itself isn’t deleted, just the index entry that tells the system where the data for those files is located. The area containing the deleted data is also now marked as free space so it is available for any new files to be written there instead. If and when that happens, then it is too late to recover your deleted files so it is very, very important to not save any new files or data to the device concerned.
A good tip is to try the free trial version of a commercial product that will scan the device for deleted files and show you exactly what files can be recovered as thumbnail images in the preview screen. At least that will show you if you can recover the deleted files or if it’s too late already.

Try downloading data recovery software. You can download the software for free and perform a search for the exact files you are missing. Definitely worth a shot!

did you verify on your short-term folder? lots of the time digital mail attachments get saved to a short-term folder and named "OLK437b93db84b8079c2dd804a71936b5f" (not something like the unique report call). additionally, did you attempt to open it back up from the digital mail? attempt that, see if the finished rfile is what opens, then do a "save as" to grant it the ideal call and placed it someplace you will stumble on it.
