Epson 69 ink cartridge refill while in printer?

Epson Workforce 500, black ink cartridge 69

Just wondering if anyone has tried refilling the cartridge while it is still in the printer or if it is even possible. I know once I pull that puppy out it is useless---

Thanks

Update:

Thx smedrik. I was afraid of that....

How about: SSC Service Utility for Epson Workforce? I have found free software for the Epson Stylus Printers but not for the Workforce series. The utility allows you to reset the chip and counters in the cartridge. Have any thoughts let me know.

Even if you put more ink in it the cartridge will "run out". The amount of ink in the cartridge has very little to do with the ink level. With an epson cartridge they have a chip on them which is pretty much a glorified page counter. When the counter reaches zero the cartridge will register as empty. This has nothing to do with the amount of ink in the cartridge.

Unfortunately refilling them while in the printer will not work.

My best advice is to A. get a laser printer. The cost savings of not buying ink over the life of your printer will pay for the new printer 2 or 3 times. B. If you love ink-jets then I would recommend getting rid of the Epson and buying a different printer with a cheaper or better ink system. It will save you a head ache in the long run. I use to own an Epson, got a decent deal on it but at the time I didn't realize the cartridges had microchips on them. When it came time for new ink, I was looking at paying more for ink then I paid for the printer. I ended up getting a cannon after that. But first I made sure I knew the cost of the cartridges. Since then I swore I would never own an Epson again... but now that I use a Laser printer and fax, I only have to worry about toner maybe once every 1.5 years since it doesn't dry up when not in use. :O)
