Investment question-please help?

Part of $9,000 was invested at 10% interest and the rest at 12%. If the annual income from these investments was $940, how much was invested at each rate?

    $7,000 invested at 10% gives $700

    $2,000 incested at 12% gives $240

    Total interest = $940

    x x 10% + y x 12% = 940

    x + y = 9000

    x = 7000

    y = 2000
