Where is a good place to play in San Fransisco?

I need a room to put on a comedy show, it doesn't need to be huge, maybe around 50-200 people, somewhere in that area, but am struggling to find something that isn't a huge theater or only hold about 20 people. It can be a little outside San Fran area, as long as its within a mile or two. Anybody know any good bars, clubs or small theaters?

Small theaters are all over SF. Your question doesn't indicate if this is a solo show, one off or your budget but as a small stage veteran of long standing you might want to check with the following venues.

The Exit Theatre on Eddy near the Powell Street bart station. They have 3 spaces including one cafe space that is good little bar style venue.

Off Market Theatre on Mission near 5th Street. There are actually two small theatre that each seat about 60 people. Try contacting the hosts through their website

Look for community group meeting halls, such as the VFW, labor unions, American Legion- whatever it takes.
