is this "high speed" internet 400-800 k up to meg and 1/2?

I am in rural area and considering using a "wireless" server that will put radio with antenna on my home that will get a signal from a antenna a few miles away.. I just want to make sure its worth my money. and im a lil clueless as far as internet speeds go

great answer ty .. BUT WHAT IS FAR AWAY..LOL.. I KNOW THE ANTENNA WILL BE 6 MILES FROM ME IN NEXT SM. TOWN.. is that close or far :)

    Yes, that's broadband.

    Note, however, that you shouldn't expect to get that speed all the time. If it's advertised as more or less 400Kbps up to 1.5Mbps, you may never get more than, say, 200Kbps, especially if you're far away.

    I imagine you're probably talking about a WiMAX service (802.16), so you should get relatively tolerable speeds, actually.

    200Kbps (admittedly, a bit of a pessimistic estimate) is still considered broadband in most countries though, although it's certainly at the lower end of the spectrum. ISDN, to put it in perspective, is 128Kbps.

    Who knows though; you could be lucky and get 1.49999Mbps all the time. You can't really predict this very accurately.
