LCD TV screen repair/replacement?

so my friend has a 37" samsung he's giving me because he accidentally shot it with an airsoft gun, so now there is a big circle on the very bottom left corner that's cracked and streaks on the edges of the screen.

i was wondering if i could get this repaired or replaced at a tv repair shop, or should i just get a new tv?

the above poster could be incorrect.

Depending on the model year of the set, replacement parts could be easy to come by and cheap. Again it depends on the age of the set and if you can do the repair yourself. If you have ever replaced a laptop LCD panel its a breeze to do a TV panel.

I have replaced a few myself, and usually scour ebay for parts TV's, or the Parts themself.

Also google the model number of the set for online part suppliers. Replacing a screen is quick and Easy repair, if your willing to research the part number and do some online reading.

Edit = Again the biggest portion of the bill is labour. If you are handy with a screw driver and know how to use google you can often find the part and do it yourself for cheap.

It is not cost effective to repair the tv than just buying a new one. The labor cost is the item that raise the cost of repair. The price of LCD tv have dropped over the year period. You just can not repair part of it, you have to replace the whole screen. Hope this will help you out.

I brought some LCD screen wipes for mine they sell them in Dixon's and Comet the are about £9. I don't know whats special about them non static or something but they do a good job. Just make sure you clean they screen when it's cold or the fluid can dry a bit smeared.

    Easy fix!

Take some duct tape and mask off the affected area.

So what if you're left with a 19" viewing area.

IT CAN BE FIXED BUT YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF GETTING A NEW ONE AND GET EXTENDED WARANTY ITS ONLY ABOUT AN EXTRA 100/150 QUID.
