How do you become a top contributor on Y/A?

"A "Top Contributor" is a member of the Yahoo! Answers community who has shown that they are knowledgeable in a certain category. Each user can be a top contributor in a maximum three categories."

Contrary to the popular misconception that you need lots of points and a high level to become a Top Contributor, the fact is, anyone at any level can become a Top Contributor, number of points and level gained have no bearing on gaining the TC badge.

Answer questions - get best answers. The TC badge is awarded on the number of questions answered and best answers received by the user in a particular week, in a particular category.

It is rumoured that you need at least a 10 percent best answers in your chosen category to get a TC badge although the actual percentage and the number of answers is Yahoo's secret.

All you see and read on the subject is unsubstantiated speculation, rumour, assumption, imagination, and guesswork.

A user who is on the leader board may or may not have a TC badge, the criteria is measured on weekly participation in a particular category (number of answers and % of best answers in the category).

The easiest way to get a TC badge is to concentrate on one category where many questions are asked and hope to get enough best answers to get a Top Contributor badge..

The Polls & Surveys and Jokes & Riddles categories do not have Top Contributors.

If you have contributed enough to meet Yahoo's criteria, the orange badge will appear below your avatar on Monday morning.

It can disappear just as easily on Monday morning, if you don't keep answering questions and getting best answers.

You have to have several best answers in a single category. For examples, someone with tons of best answers in the Pregnancy section would get a top contributor badge for that section.

Nobody REALLY understands how it works. Yahoo keeps the details deliberately vague.

Basically, you have to answer A LOT of questions in one particular category. Rumor has it that 75 questions in the last month is enough but, again, that's rumor.

You have to have at least 10% of those answers be "best answers." It's not just enough to answer but you also have to answer well.

Thirdly, you have to keep answering. That person you saw on Level 7 with 49% best answers might not have logged in for the last 2 weeks and lost their badge because of it. It happened to a friend of mine.

it particularly relies upon the consumer, and how lively he/she is. i'm on Yahoo! solutions from 4 months and function in easy terms 950 factors. yet another excuse you're a precise contributor is which you have an excellent proper answer share.

You have to get the most amount of Best Answers in a certain Category!!!

The more number of best answers you have the higher your rank will be on the leader board!!!!!

Answer questions with relevant information. You get points for the answers and then if your answer is voted best you are awarded more points. Basically keep it useful, relevent and easy to understand with possibly a pinch of humor.
