Why does my Windows fire wall go off when I turn off my computer?

Every time I turn off my computer and then turn it back on I have a alert at the bottom, it says my fire wall is off and my computer is at risk, I don't turn it off, I also have Norton anti virus.

If both Norton, and Windows are trying to setup a firewall on your computer they may be conflicting with one another.

If you do not want the Windows firewall to run and just want to get rid of the warning, go into the Control Panel > Security Center and "Change the way Security Center alerts me". You can enable or disable the warnings for the firewall, windows updates, and virus warnings there. Uncheck the firewall box and the message will disappear.

If you have Norton, you do not need Windows Firewall. They conflict with each other. Don't worry about that message. However... make sure you have Norton running.

    2 posibilities.

    1) The windows firewall service is set to manual

    2) Norton has it's own firewall so it disabled windows firewall.

Windows Firewall is not something that is auto-enabled, so every time you turn on the computer, you have to re-enable it. To stop this problem, you can set your Windows Firewall to Run at Startup in the Properties Menu.

During the boot process, a message will come up stating that your firewall is down until the firewall process is executed...then the message disappears.

Best to get a third party firewall like Comodo or Zone Alarm, both are free.
